In the spirit of goodwill, and as a New Year's resolution to be more open and honest - why doesn't everybody complete their Forum Profile, so we aren't all quite so anonymous?

Hi Sal

Just click on Forums, at the top left hand side of the screen, then you will see Forum Profile in the drop down menu, click on it and you can edit your Profile.

Twigit no doubt will complete his saying he is an old soldier, living in Jumilla, and his interests are winding people up!  You can see my Profile by clicking on my name where it says Posted by beside my message.

FIN, I would love people to be truthful about themselves.  I always tell the truth.  I have to, because unfortunately my face gives me away!  But it can work to my advantage.  I was in London with my daughter, who wanted to buy a present for her ex-boyfriend in an antique shop, but she didn't have enough money on her.  She told the owner of the shop that she had an egg-cup (it was a collector's item that she had bought very cheaply but it was worth a lot) that she would like to use as part exchange, which he immediately agreed to.  He then said she could take the gift with her, and send the egg-cup to him when she got home.  She obviously looked a bit surprised (neither of us had been in the shop before and it was a valuable item), so he said "Your mother has an honest face!".  True story!

I have nothing to hide, so I don't mind anybody knowing who I am, so I hope that other people will follow suit.  I have made many friends through this forum, and also think of many of you whom I have never met as friends.

Truth and honesty is all I have ever stated on here and 90% of the time been slated for it.

Strange world when many don't like the truth.

When you state it they don't believe it.

I've just done mine, i am such a p.c freak, anything that has my space, blogs, facebook, messenger blah blah blah im on it feeding everyone with nonsensical information about myself he he not that im very interesting but people might actually read it....you never know......

I would say im too trusting and a bit free with my info so don't be trying any id fraud or anything lol....

In an Ideal world it would be a great idea if we all filled in our profiles honestly and with facts not fiction ,however this is not an ideal world and because of the circumstances we  find ourselves in we do not trust  very easily now  .

This is a great shame but a fact .The only way this honesty policy  would work is if every one agreed to be honest and not use any of the details to harm  other members on the forum or more importantely in the "real world"  ?

I for one was begged to provide some info which I could only provide via e mail  ( all be it  I used someone elses e mail  ,I am not stupid ! ) This info has been used constantly and repeatedly on this forum and else where  to accuse me and place doubt on my motives and true identity  . I am all for honesty but some people  WILL use these details for  their own selfish aims and  gains with total disregard for our privacy  ,moral rights or requests for the confidentiality of our details .

PS . I have also had people post on the open forums PMs  "PRIVATE MESSAGES " . Which is half  the reason  that I don't always reply  to PMs  now  unless I know who they are  from . Trust /Honesty  I don't think so ! Unless your experience on this forum has been one of trust ,respect and honesty .I don't think it is possible . Shame but true !!!!!!!  JA

Great to see that some people have now completed their profiles. 

Brian, to look at my profile, just click on suemac in the left hand column, under "Posted by".  Similarly, with other people, find their posts and then you can see their details.  There may be other ways, but that certainly works.

Julie Anne, if I see anybody posting a PM on the public forum, they immediately lose my respect, and I am sure that the majority of people here feel the same.  I am not saying that you should put your full name on the forum profile if you are concerned that somebody may misuse the information, but look at what Jannine has added and I am sure you could do something similar.

Jannine, interesting to see that you are a therapist too - what therapies?  I am a qualified reflexologist, Bowen therapist, plus IHM and seated acupressure.  I had thought I would have plenty of potential clients at SADM.......!

Sal - do you sell wedding dresses online?  My daughter is planning to get married this summer, but lives in London!

Ave spoke ta me forma comanding officer an he says am allowed to reveal me identity as its been quite a while since I was on undercover operations, so ave filled in me profile thingy. I just ope he's right an revealing too much abowt me self dosen't put me in....................

Hi Sue, yes we have an ebay shop but it's to move along some excess stock.  I regularly take orders for particular designers (for friends extra special prices of course) and can order direct from  Suppliers/Designers.. Main (and most sought after label in the bridal business is Maggie Sottero...)  I wont bore other people but I do deliver all over the country anyway by Courier.  I will pm my web site and additional details if that's ok..  I would do the same for anyone on the Forum (if applicable!)....

This was a great suggestion Sue and appears to have opened up some dialogue again.. well done that lady!

Twigit, don't worry John and I can help protect you as we have both seen active service.  OK I was in the WRNS, but I did form part of the guard of honour at the Royal Tournament, when the Royal Family passed by.  Does that count?
