Hi everyone

I have a question and wondering if someone can help. I am applying for NIE from London. In the form it's asking for a full address in Spain. Well, we still haven't got an address in phase 2 so what could I write there?

I am just wondering if anyone has applied for NIE from UK. Could you please help me.

Thanks

Hi again,we got our NIE numbers when we came over for good.Anitas parents live just up the road from us,so for the first week we were here,we stayed with them.On the 2nd day of arrival we rang Parador our rep,and they organised it for the 4th day.We were picked up by a very helpfull man very early in the morning at a pre arranged point ,he then drove us and picked up another couple on the way,to Alicante. This service came at a cost to us of 90 euros each, but the bloke was well known at the police station were you get the NIEs,and had a smooth application.Parador then dropped us the NiEs when we went to San Javier Notary to complete.Well worth a thought, dont know of anybody that had applied in England, but you may well get some answers from the forum.

Regarding the address, ours are addressed to a place we dont know in ALICANTE,but we have had no problems with it.!!!!!!!

     Regards ,steve.

Steve, you have been very helpful today. Thanks for your advise.

I called Embassy last week and aparently there is no fee now for getting NIE, which is good. I think it is best if I email MASA and see what they say about address.

Thanks again

Helia

Hi there

We applied for our NIE numbers from the UK.  Our Spanish lawyer sent us the relevant forms and we left the address blank as the lawyer said she'd do this for us.  In fact we did everything from the UK and it was relatively painless.  We gave Power of Attorney to our Spanish lawyer which we had to have notarised here in the UK by a Notary Public and endorsed by the Commonwealth Office.  We paid about £75 for the UK Notary fee plus about £7 for express courier to and from the Commonwealth Office and the whole thing was back within about 7 days, then sent on to lawyer.   A note of caution - our lawyer charged us about £150 for arranging the NIE numbers!

Hope this is of some help

Helia, hi again

Forgot to mention that we did have to pay the Commonwealth Office for approving the Power of Attorney and that was about 6 weeks ago so sounds like you've had a bit of luck if they're no longer charging!

Wow!!!  that was lot of money to obtain NIE but for how long it took you to get it I am amazed. They told us it takes between 1-3 months.

Thank you very much for your reply pumpkin.

we got our NIE's done for nothing i think (was  while ago) -- i think we just turned up with a couple of forms that the lawyer organised, he knew someone at the police static caravan office and we jumped the front of the queue and had the process completed in 5 mins.

completely painless and no cost -

in spain i suppose its who and not what you know  :)

Thank you niceboy

I think everywhere is the same not just in Spain. I talked to our lawyer and they are going to do it for us.

Many thanks
