Telephone and TV

I have just spoken to customer services and the girl told me that the phones will be ready in 2 weeks time.  They are supplied and installed for free and you can have the option of incoming and internal calls to/from all PW resorts only or, of course, a proper line allowing you to pay for calls made.  She was less precise about the tv but did say that it should be 2-3 weeks from now as everything was in place but they were getting their computers sorted out to deal with it????  She told me that you must apply IN PERSON on the resort  for both phone and tv - to complete the forms and get the installation done.

Thats nice to know, will have to get that orginized next time out,  and for Free, that doesn't happen much in Spain!!!

I don't suppose you know if we do have the pay call line if there is a line rental that goes with it?

Not sure on the line rental.  I was so shocked to be getting something from PW for 'free' I forgot to ask!!!!

I have heard a lot of dates since November for communications, the last I heard was Mañana.

Has anyone read anything, anywhere about he rules for Satalite service. We read the whole community book and there was nothing in there, yet we were told it would be a big fine. Checking this with the Mayor.

Dont get excited about the telephone.

According the the booklet i have which was provided for Hacienda Requime Resort the telephone is 47€ installation and 75€ installation with the phone itself IVA not included so theirs was not free and i doubt ours will be either.

What is free is calls to other PW numbers.

Calls to UK are 0.38cents first min / 0.27 thereafter plus IVA  ( UK Mobile far cheaper ) ( Happy Sim card even better )

Also telephone external line costs 10€ month line rental

as i say these are from Hacienda Brochure have not seen Condado one as yet.

No info on TV other than 400€  installation and we may get it one day I have stopped holding my breath.

Seeing as  they may now be charging for a handset, do we actually have to have one of theirs? We've got a cheap digital cordless phone from Eroski already in the apartment, just sat there patiently waiting for a dial tone ...

After the last trip I'm hoping that the visits to IKEA are now finally over .

Time now to sit back in the sun and drink some of the vast  supplies of Gin/Beer/Wine/Whiskey that I seemed to get carried away buying

And maybe find time for a little TV.

I've also had  that list of TV channels sent to me, relating to the 400 Euro decoder.  I emailed them straight back about the option of using our own Sky boxes with the one-off 30 Euro fee. They have just replied saying that option is not available at Condado. Bit of a  blow to those of us with our boxes out there already

The 400 euro + IVA fee is a one-off charge.

I would urge caution at the moment about subscribing to the offer from Polaris of a 'one off fee' of €400 for the box

According to some of the other owners Forums on the web, there are issues on La Torre at the moment where it appears Polaris are going back on their original word that there would be no ongoing monthly fees for the provision of television services.

I am certainly going to wait to see how that is resolved before I commit to anything

I have just this minute from Nika in customers services (Nica Bonmati Lopez [nica.bonmati@polarisworld.com]) who tells me that the satellite feed at Condado should now be up and running and that if we bring our SKY box and card from the UK it should work.  Asked for an email confirming, but not holding breath.

The person who emailed me yesterday saying that our own Sky boxes wouldn't work, didn't give their name. The email just came from callcentercondado@polarisworld.com.

if you want to collect your escritura(deed) and completed last year email the call centre and they will speed up the process.

any more news on when the phone and tv lines will be working?

I was in the Call Center last week and asked this specific question about TV, telephone and internet. The TV satellite link should be ready any day so may now be up and running. I was given the 'semi hard sell' that only the 400 Euro Polaris box will work and that a UK Sky box will not be able to pick up the Sky satellite signal for some reason. I doubt this very much and am going to take out my old Sky box which is just running a free view card and test the system before I decide to spend further. Will do this in April but if anyone beats me to it I would appreciate the results.

Telephone and internet, less clear as to when that will be available. I have been looking at various dongle type (moble phone technology) systems that you can buy in Spain. They seem to be fair value at around 30 Euros a month but only worth the spend if you are a heavy user and frequent visitor.
