Was just wondering hopefully the gardens will look magnificient this summer and with hopefully all the pools in operation, and a few more people about is there any news about sunbeds been provided round the pools, as this would look alot nicer than individuals purchasing their own. It would give it a nice holiday feel, just need someone to stack them all up on a night and to put our towels out on a morning lol.

Anybody know anything about this or has it been discussed before

i'm not holding my breath to see any loungers this year at all. I cannot see the developers providing them and as there is no community yet or management appointed then nobody will sort it out.   Not even the pools all working.  They closed the pool around our block after we had been using it for 2 months and were very happy, then shifted us all to the smaller pool that is now the only one open.   They tried to say there was a problem but it is just money cuts i reckon.  Dont be surprised if it is a little busy around that pool this year, as it was quite busy at one stage during the 6weeks holidays last year.  a couple of days we struggled to find a spot around it to sit.

i often wonder what happened to the 500euros or so they took for community fees on completion, as there isnt a community anyway.

This was a message that I posted on the Refunds thread 24th February.

One costs you appear not to have considered is the new law regarding swimming pools in Spain

They now have to be fenced and gated around every pool in the development, if it serves more than 20 properties.

I know this is applicable in other countries, Australia and France to name two, but this will add subsantially to the costs, and pool fencing suppliers are sure to jump on the band wagon, especially as the pools cannot be used until they have been inspected and a licence granted.

Ours are already fenced and gated daffers so its no concern to us on arenal.  The Inspector used to come around regularly and check the water in the pools too.  Everything was fine.  There isnt really an issue with fences or pools apart from the fact that they havent got them all running because of financial situation.

From speaking to the spanish residents and the spanish workers, i believe this is the real reason they are only running one pool now.   They wont really run the pools whilst they are paying for them themselves and will carry on fobbing us off for a while longer with just the one again i bet.   This time last year we were looking forward going out for easter.   We went in march for three lovely long weeks.  The weather was fantastic and we swam in the pool.  I think once they realised that more people on the other pool's side were completing they then closed ours . it was open when we returned in may but by june they had closed it 'for repair' and it never re-opened.   Just the pool that is open now was working.   We missed being able to use the pool in our block and are hoping it will re-open but not really expecting it to yet.

If only somebody would finish that bloody road!!!  i walk up and down wishing i could get in one of the diggers or start laying it myself every time i go.   In fact, i spent about 20 weeks in all out there last year but am trying to find the enthusiasm to book for next month in case it hasn't progressed at all for those still waiting.   You will love it, i promise you but i fear more and more people will begin to drop now, given the current financial climate on top of everything else

We're over next week, must drop in with the air of an Owner (which technically we still are) and see how the pool fencing looks.

We're a bit concerned that in our Urbanisation it might just turn out ugly - if it can be done sympathetically then alright, I suppose, but again we will be prey to more fee gouging. I like the view from our apartment terrace as it is, as we overlook two pools.

I've heard some pretty scary figures for supply and installation, so the the locals are already getting geared up for another fest.

A quick Google for "Pool Fencing" shows an average figure of €36 per metre for the supply.

To be honest Will, they are not very attractive and i was a little miffed when i first saw they were fenced.   I remember saying that i hoped that it was just a temporary thing whilst they were building.  However, at that time, i did not know about the new laws regarding fencing and gating around pools.

One thing i will say is that you just get used to it.   Having said that, we have never known any different since we moved in so i too would have been dissapointed if we had had the open pools and then found it had to be fenced later.

Good luck with the fencing, maybe catch up for a beer at easter time, as we never seem to have bumped into each other in all this time.  Although maybe we have, ha, and never known.  its such a small village really, everybody seems to know everybody

Speaking of sunloungers......can anyone please recommend where to buy nice ones? We did see someone with some lovely white ones, very stylish, but I haven't been able to buy any that I like anywhere.

We bought our own sunbeds as the ones our Urbanisation supplied were pretty hopeless - they were the fixed horizontal type that you couldn't adjust if you wanted to read

We got ours down in a shop by the hardware store - in fact there are a couple of shops down there in that stretch that sell them.

The white ones are about €100 each, can't remember if that includes cushions or not, there are a couple of different designs.

We went for aluminium type sunbeds, fully adjustable, they fold up and have a carrying handle, very light and easy to carry and have a sun "lid" which we hope will be very nescessary this summer.

I think we paid €65 each for them

Thank you for that. Do you mean those shops down on the left, past the Chinese shops? By the way, we have posted exactly the same amount of posts!

Was just wondering if still only one pool in operation or is there any sign of the others been prepared for use.
