Hi, just after some information on what exactly is happening at Corvera, my husband & I are now starting to get worried because of all the rumors that we are now hearing.  Can anyone help?

This relates to the sports facilities at the bottom of the article, no news on the hotel however.

Wow, a clubhouse on a golf course and 2 tennis courts. La manga will be worried.

best piece of advice is to spend an hour or 2 trawling through the threads on this site. You will then start to get the picture of what is going on at Corvera. You are right to be concerned, i am afraid there is not a lot of good news out there at the moment and despite the eternal optimists Corvera will not be the all singing/dancing great resort that we all bought into 4 years ago.

Welcome Ade & Vic

You will note that there are two viewpoints on this forum and everybody's comments are somewhat biased accordingly.

There are those who bought as pure investors that have been severely compromised by the worldwide recession and the exchange rates; some of these want the development to fail early enough that Calidona go bust and then they can try to get their deposits back through the courts.

There are also those eternal optimists (of which I am one) that empathise with the investors but look far into the future (well at least 5-10 years and truly believe that Corvera will become a great place to live when the dust has eventually settled and are prepared to wait for it.

Everybody has their own viewpoint and all are right according to that viewpoint. We try not to cast judgement on one another on this forum and all perspectives are welcome. It is then up to the individual to accept or ignore particular posts.

May whatever you wish for from Corvera happen for you.

There must three viewpoints as some of us (like myself) just want what was promised back in Jan '05 when the deposit was paid  (completion June/July '07 with all facilities in place or in progress)

Someone hasn't lived up to their part of the bargain and whislt I don't want them to fail I do want my money back and am taking action accordingly.

I dont think it is lifestyle investment here and pure investment

I think you may call it REALISTS & DREAMERS which sometimes it works out good for both but most of the time realists are right and dreamers get hurt so just be careful and make you own judgement

I personally wont be completing due to the fact my circumstances have changed somewhat in the last 12 months

Please do not form your opionions based solely  on this forum. People have vested interests ,  both doomsayers and eternal optimists. May I suggest that you gather all the facts then form an opinion.

Facts

• Development is at least 3 years late.
• Euro/Pound exchange is not in our favour - this will hurt UK based buyers
• Calidona have stated that sports facilities and clubhouse should be ready by end of 2009 - form your own opinion whether this will happen.
• Sports facilities due for completion by June 2009 - see 3.
• No news on Corvera/DeVere hotel - the one for Roda has been delayed.
• A brand new airport is being constructed 10 mins away. This usually brings in extra tourists and businesses, not to mention jobs.
• Murcia a large provincial capital is 15 mins away and beach 20-25 mins away, something for everyone.
• Do not believe everything you read on this forum good or bad. Some people have been dishonest in their postings.

Finally whatever your reasons for buying whether it's for investment or lifestyle good luck.

i am on roda phase 4 , and agree with mmepani you are better just dealing with the the facts rarther than specultion .

it may be worth checking the roda threads regarding lack of facalaties and delays and owners selling because the cost of ownership  ( ie community fees ) does not justify the facalaties on the resort , quality control issues on snagging that calidona are washing there  hands of , phase 5 mothballed and roda is at least 2 years in front of corvera , whilst nothing comes with certanties all you can do is look at calidonas previous history , and make our own judgements .

you pays your money and takes your chance !!

Thanks to everyone for getting back to us, at least we can bounce things off other people in the same position as us. I guess we will just have to wait & see what happens.  Can't quite get my head round all the different views!  I think we knew that things take longer in Spain but didn't expect it to be this long as we were hoping to be using the property by last year!
