Phone and Internet

There is a company called Teletec, who for 29.99 Euros per month can provide phone and quick broadband, including 200 free minutes to anywhere in Europe.

Polaris World have denied them ppermission to set up here. I have learned that all is needed is a small antennae, the size of a large dinner plate and maybe a couple of repeaters on site.

I am prepared to allow them to install this equipment on my terrace, despite what PW says. I possibly risk a fine if someone complains, so first of all I need to know no one would complain, secondly you all need to contact our rubbish community company and demand the right to fair competition and allow this company to set up on Condado. This company could have us on line in a week. Phone and Internet.

Polaris Worlds minimum charge will be about 50 Euros per month. This will be for a basic package and there will not be 200 free minutes per month.

I need this spread around and I need your support.

I seem to have a recollection that someone had asked about Telitec ( www.telitec.com) in the past and they had been told that they cannot get coverage at CdA, I know that they have coverage in Camposol, because our friends have it, but didn't think it covered here, perhaps that why they need the repeaters?  But if they can provide a service I'm all for it.  There's syncronous 1Mb @ €29 is faster and cheaper than the Polaris offering ( if it ever comes ). 

Also can anyone find where it is written that we cannot use another providers connection?  The main problem is that ( currently ) PW own the exchange and the cable infrastructure to our apartments, so pretty much have a monopoly as they will not give anyone else access.  But as the Telitec dish is only about 10cm round I cannot see that these would be against the rules although fitting them would be a problem for downstairs apartments!

We would certainly have no objections and would probably want the services installed, so by all means go ahead and try your luck.

We might have to plan a covert operation to get the company on site to install the said services, but we're woman and can outsmart any PW security guard.

This is definitely a community issue and should be action by the community management team (RPM) who are supposed to be acting for us, we need to band together to insist they obtain competitive quotes for the prevision of phone and internet, not to mention TV, if we are paying for the exchange and infrastructure already in place then companies should be allowed to give costing and have access to the existing provision which should reduce costs. If PW are saying they cannot use the infrastructure already in place then we should not be paying for this provision, as PW must consider they own it.

As far as being allowed access to Condado I have seen nothing in the rules that says we cant have competitive tendering for anything.

The Teletec signal can not be recieved at cda hence the problem we can pick up the Camposol signal but not strong enough to have a usable system.

It requires a relay repeater aerial situated somewhere where it can pick up the Camposol signal and supply signal to all.

For those who are not aware the Teletec system is Line of Sight so you can only pick it up if you can see it could be a problem for some !

A nice high mast in the middle of the Golf course perhaps but no way would this be allowed.

Another company have a Satellite system that gives you TV, Phone and Internet but can not get a firm price but would need Satellite 1.4m dish on roof.

There are some interesting posts on the general Spain forum under internet and landline. On post in particular from Eva2008 may be of interest to some here on condado.

I know there are problems with reception but I don't know if it's possible to have the dish concealed on my terrace. I will allow it, providing it can be done without being seen. this I don't know yet.

PW have a monopoly on most things and overcharge for them all. We need to botcott PW outlets until the prices come down, unfortunately as I'm writing this in "The Clinic" there are still a few people coming in here for food and drink at the inflated prices.
