Polaris discount card

You couldn' make this up!!! the only discount card in the whole of the universe that you have to now pay for YES PAY FOR, 150 EUR, so I would have to spend 1500 EUR just to get my money back, desperation, dishonest, disgrace, they can POKE IT.

 Well, we can fettle them one way - those of us with the discount card can pay for the drinks each time we go to the bar at our get-together and you can just give us the money !!

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot - what a way to drive people to camposol to spend their money.

I think Polaris must be desperate, we received ours when they were free and I agree with Will that we'll have to share them. Whats new scheme will PW think of next to extract money!

I completed in June last year and have been trying to get one of these cards for the last 3 weeks, each time I ring the call centre they say they will get someone to call me from the discount card department, yet nobody ever calls.

Does anyone have a contact email or phone number for the discount card people.

I am not prepared to pay, but will have a go at trying to get one for free! I only found out about these cards from this forum, Polaris tell me nothing!

I received mine in the post last week, no charge. I left in the forms with Christina in the call centre on Condado at mid-term break, there was no mention of a charge then.

I have only recently given the papers into Christina at PWCS for our discount cards and was not told about any charge for them, however I have heard from a number of people this is to happen, if it happens I will not be using the bar at Condado in future. I just cant allow myself to keep being ripped off by them, as far as I am concerned if we keep paying they will keep finding new ways to charge us.

I have heard on the forum that the Iris bar in Camposol is thinking of providing a free bus to his bar, which may be useful. A better way would be for us as the community to club together and provide a bus service between Condado and Camposol at a small cost for each trip, just like a regular bus service, it would have to be subsidised to start with and its frequency limited at the start, but in the not to distant future would become self funding and more frequent, paid for from its fairs. PW would have a rethink about its charging structure then.

As RPM are supposed to work for us maybe they should be instructed to obtain independent costing for this service. I would think the businesses at Camposol would be prepared to jointly provide some finical assistance also.

Excellent idea Phil! I have read on another forum that the owner of Kilkennys Bar at Camposol had bought a minibus and was offering free pick up and drop off if he had more than 8 people!

Just out of interest, how much is a pint at the Polair Bar? It wasnt open last time I visited.

Yes, but if you use your Polaris discount card (those who have one) that pint comes down to the bargain price of 3.15 euros !!!

Seriously though, the irish on camposol will not be everyone's cup of tea so I wouldn't use that as a basis for free transportation. It will be easy enough to get together with others who might want to go for the evening to camposol in general (there are several good value bars & restaurants there) and arrange for a taxi. I think we all have nice patio's or terraces anyway and a fridge/freezer was one of the first things on the shopping list so who cares ?  Eventually, market forces will dictate in this present climate. I personally have no qualms about Polaris wanting to run a profitable organisation but you have to get real and realise that a bar full of contented customers is far  more lucrative than a handful begrudgingly paying over inflated prices.

After a few strong worded emails and a heated phone call PW have agreed to supply my card for no Fee, however when it expires I will have to pay the fee to renew it, so I guess they have an expiry date on do they? if so how long are the valid for? 1 week LOL

Dan, do you have any contact details of someone I can speak to or email regarding one of these illusive "Discount Cards". I have managed to obtain an application from for the "Polaris World Club", this shows a card on the front. Is this the same as the discount card or is this something else?

Darren thats the correct form, I have just been dealing with customer Services, although the first I heard of paying for them was via the card people themselves.

Dan,  Mine does not have an expiry date? In fact the application form has no mention of an expiry date, rather it says that points earned have to be used within 24 months, so I assume the card must last at least that long.   Perhaps thay are introducing a new yearly card?

We got our polaris cards 2 years ago after visiting La Torre and were told as we were going to be owners, even though we hadn't yet completed, we were able to apply for the card.

Think it will be a shock for all the people on La Torre who completed years ago if they suddenly refuse to accept the discount cards.  Last year when we were there Polaris refused to accept them in certain restaurants during the main holiday periods.

Must admit i dunno as I've never used the card .

The app form says "Points are obtained every time the cardholder make use of the services selected for the loyalty programme by Polaris World" and "Polaris World will periodically publish catalogues for point redemption" and "Points accumulated on a card that has been inactive over a 24 months.......will be cancelled"

Just been looking through the Hacienda community website which I must say is very informative about what is going on and came across the discount section. Here it appears that you can use your Polaris Card to get discounts at many places cafes, adventure parks, water sports etc none of which i've seen advertised before.
