We have just received a statement from our Bank in Spain with withdrawals of 350 euros. Realising that we reside in the UK but we did spend 7 weeks in the apt between Nov through to the 19th.Dec. we thought these charges a little on the high side. Perhaps someone with could explain what these charges are for. The charges were as follows:

C.No RESID      20.88

C.No RESID      20.88

IBERDROLA     108 79

URBASER.S     196.55

From what I was led to believe the electric and water are on a meter and you pay for what you use to IBERDOLA so 108 Euros for 7 weeks seems on the high side. Perhaps I have got it all wrong, would some kind soul enlighten me and perhaps offer some advice.

Regards

David

Hi David,

The electric and water charges will be the initial connection fees, future bills will be on a meter basis (plus standing charge).  The other 2 are similar to something mentioned in an earlier thread, which I believe are something to do with a non-resident tax, but I am not certain.

Hi David,

Not sure if the electricity charge (Iberdrola) is a connection charge, as our's was €150 for each apartment.  More like 2 X standing charges, plus 7 weeks electricty charge i.e. around €12.5 per week. So, assuming you were running your A/C on the heating cycle, as we were in Nov, then that might account for your hight costs.

€196.55 is almost certainly the water connection charge (Ubaser), as that is exactly what we paid.

The other debits I think are as Ted said, some form of non residents tax.

Not sure what part of CdA you are located and whether there are different connection charges for the different areas, as we are in Jardines and these costs relate to that area.

Hope this helps,

Jim and Betty

Hi David,

The 2 amounts of 20.88 are for the certificate of non residents for each of you, for tax purposes and is due every 2 years.
