SGS Members Update

Hi All SGS Members

You may or may not have heard that we have now got a professional golfer David Gay that has taken over the golf shop/office with his team. David has been concerned about the amount of SGS members there were and said we have got to come up with a way of maintaining the society so it benefits the society and the golf shop or we might have to cap the amount of members allowed to join SGS. Well we had a SGS committee meeting on Thursday and we came up with a way that would benefit all. We had a meeting with David on Friday morning and we put our plan to him and he said it just what he wanted and was very pleased with our format and was willing to help us in anyway. Below is SGS new format. Please Note you must play with the society at the times stated below to pay 10 euros for 9 holes.

Weekly Society Days

Wednesdays @ 14.30 Members pay 10 euros per 9 holes.

Fridays @ 13.00 Members pay 10 euros per 9 holes.

Sundays @ 10.30 Members pay 10 euros per 9 holes.

Members playing outside these times will pay 13 euros per 9 holes.

hi to all sgs members having read the thread tony has put on i am not sure as to what sort of society we have ..surley such a big desicion should have gone to a full meeting with all members concerns heard and not such a few ..i myself play on tuesdays along with other sgs members and now because we dont or cant make the other days have to pay more to play..perhaps we should have all been invited to the last meeting as all we now have is if you dont play when the committee say you will have to pay more.........dennis

The sort of people we have on the committee are hard working and we support the society not like yourself.

It was not a big decision at all, we where approched by David Gay the professional golfer and he said we have to come up with a way of working together or he was going to cap the amount of member we had on the society and only allow the people who support the society to be a member of the society, that means people like yourself who don't support the society  would be dropped from the society, but we came up with a way of getting member like yourself who don't support the society to get a discount even if you don't want to play on the three society days through the week, so we even though of you.

Some people just want cheap golf without supporting the society.

We now have 80 SGS members and all get a discount even if they play outside of society days.

hi tony i have played the friday frolic several times and as far as supporting the society i have done that in other ways as well like the 2 sponsers i have got for the society ..as for the decision i think it a disgrace that you only had the meeting on thursday and it was all sorted by friday ..the question i would like to have a answer for is when did anyone on the committee ask for another view as to when we as a society want to play and not make the decision themselves..if we are going to make big desicions surley we must make them together and not as the few want..............dennis

The society day were picked because thats when most people turn up, not like yourself, on Sundays at 10.30 as you said are there two 10.30 in a day yes there are and thats when we play. If you had turned up to the society days you would have heard us talking to society members about the situation.

I think the decision was right, as a society with so many members with residents living here owner not living here but playing every time there here and non residents coming to play we got all the sgs members a discount.

As far as the sponsers go yes you did give me two names but it on going.

Hope you still enjoy your discount.

The decision was made, as I said before it was capped.

So you want a discount when you want to play and not when the majority of sgs play. We think of the society and getting them a discount, not the individual like yourself.

tony for your information you are only representing less than 25% of the society as thats all that play on those days you have picked i thought as a committee you should represent all members and not the select few.....dennis

As one of the committee members that met last Thursday, we were faced with several options 1) capping, 2) a multi -tiered society with members paying different rates, 3) NO discount for anybody, so everybody loses.  The agreement that we arrived at, after much deliberation, was the one we considered would be fairest to all members of the society, given that the Director of Golf had requested a meeting with our secretary on the following day with our, your elected committee, proposals.

May I remind you Dennis that committee members were elected by a democratic vote at a meeting that you yourself attended. They and I will fight your corner whenever possible but with an ever growing club we rely on the goodwill of those running the golf course to accommodate our numbers.

Finally Dennis if you had an axe to grind why didn't you come and see me or one of the other members who you know personally or do you get a kick out of airing your dirty linen in public.

hi brian  firstly can i say i only saw this on eos thats why i replied to it as for elected committee i think that with the possable senarioues that was put to you as the committe i still think that a full meeting should have been called to decide on what was the best way forwards if as a committee person you cant see the logic of consultation then the society is nothing but a dictatorship as for airing in public maybe if a meeting had been called then all this would be unnessasary...........dennis

Hi All.

I myself know nothing about golf but speaking to a few people all seems fair to me.

I say well done to Tony Brian and all the other commite members for getting of there bums and trying to make a success of things if it was not for them there would not be any discount for anyone.

You can not please everyone you will always get someone complaining which is sad becouse it makes it difficult for everyone.

SO WELL DONE KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE ODD PERSON JUST ENJOY WHAT WE HAVE ON SEIRRA GOLF.

hi all having read the last thread its a bit obvious that some people dont know the way to do things ..if a desicion has to be made that effects all sgs members then that should be made by the members and not just a few people who are only benifiting from that desicion.

What is the point in voteing for a committe when you don't like what decisions they make. Seems to me it would  be better for you and everyone else if you go it alone.

 I don't think it would make any difference what they do you would still complain.

As far as i understand they were told Thursday they had to come up with something by Friday.

All in all they have done what they think is best with the short time they had.

There would not have been time to get everyone together.

You are the only one that seems to dislike this.

IT WOULD BE QUITE INTERESTING TO KNOW JUST HOW MANY SGS MEMBERS WOULD BE ABLE TO TURN UP AT ANY MEETING CALLED,

I FOR ONE WOULD HAND MY VOTE OVER TO THE COMMITTEE TO USE AT THEIR DISGRESSION.

jackie again i will say to you  you dont understand how these things work ...as far as the extra cost its makes not much difference to me but the big factor is not one of the committee tried to ask any member what their views were .we are not far from each other as to make much difference to call and ask ..but other members that now play outside the times and days will have a cost i am sure they will be very pleased that you think it was ok to do that without them at least haveing a say on when the discounts should be given...i think you have a axe to grind but are trying to grind it on the wrong thing...............dennis

Do you know i am bored with this now as probebly everyone else is.

What is done is done you can't change it now.

As far as me having an axe to grind has nothing whatsoever to do with this i think it is petty. 

Just for you i have no axe to grind with you you know my feelings about you which i would not like to write it on eos as might get thrown of.

I will not answer anymore of your coments as it is getting silly now.

hi to all sgs members i have just played my usual 13 euro round of golf today ..i also spoke to david the golf profesional and he has explained the recent changes to me .i just wish those changes were explained before yesterday.the changes have been made to give all resident/sgs members a discount on the 15 euro cost there is also a further discount for group bookings as the friday frolic now if that was explained yesterday then none of whats been on eos would have been put on ..so may i be the first to apologize if i upset anyone and again apologize to tony if i indeed caused him any harm or embarrasment......the lesson to be learnt by both parties is we should talk to each other before starting to put things on here also it serves as a wake up call as well to maybe discuss things more with others so we all know the correct things..................dennis
