Does anyone know of any company operating in San Javier airport who have a fuel policy that is not a rip off. I need a car for 5 days for my next visit on May 1. I will use less than a quarter tank of fuel,. Most companies if not all charge for a full tank of fuel and tell you to bring it back empty. Would appreciate any info.

Fuel
Fuel throughout the World has become very expensive and therefore customers are looking for different ways of saving money on fuel. Unfortunately most car hire company’s fuel policy in Spain is to pay for a full tank of fuel and return empty.
Returning a car empty is very hard to do and for anyone using a car for less than two weeks will find it very difficult to use a full tank of fuel especially if it is a diesel car.
We understand the importance of saving money on fuel and with Econorent we have a company where you can return your car full of fuel and you will receive a full refund (a credit card swipe will be taken just in case you are unable to return the car full of fuel).
Whether it be 3 days or 33 days the same policy applies, we now have a large amount of our house owners that travel into Alicante or Murcia Airports that use Econorent and the fact that they keep coming back and re-booking their car hire means the system works.
So looks like Econorent do.
Hope this helps

Hi
We use Centaura (not sure of spelling), most times from Alicante and we always top the tank up before returning it. We have used lots of car hire companies but have booked last three times with Centaura because of the service we receive.

We always use Centauro who are in the arrivals hall of Murcia Airport and we always take the car back full of fuel whether we are there for 3 days or 10days. Just make sure you confirm this with them at the time of collecting the keys.

Hi
If you book through CARJET, using their BASICS option, they have a return empty policy BUT they provide and charge for only a half tank of fuel on all rentals - of any length, according to Carjet agents. Please note that this is only available if you use the BASICS rental option - it's cheaper because you register/collect the car in the car park instead of the arrivals hall - it's through Dickmanns apparently.
I looked at econorent because of their full/full policy but I found them to be a lot more expensive. I am renting for 3 weeks in June and have to do three separate rentals because I need a 7 seater for the middle week. I would have lost a lot of money on unused petrol for each rental so the half tank option reduces that significantly, and their rates were better also.
Worth a look!
