Phone lines

Does anyone know, if and when the phone lines are operational on Condado if it would be possible just to connect a phone to receive incoming calls only directly to the apartment without it costing a monthly rental fee?

Hi Linda,

Don't have an exact date yet, just 'soon'.  The only way to get incoming external calls is with a monthly contract, without the contract you will only be able to make/receive internal calls i.e to customer service, other apartments etc

Thats a bit of a bummer!  My sister is out for the whole of the school holidays and it would have been good it we could have phoned from the UK (my calls to Sapin are free here) to speak.  Looks like a skype mobile might be the best option.

There's a question.  Ok so 3 etc say 'free Skype to Skype calls'  but are they still free if you are using the phone abroad?

The 3 web site says "Free Skype calls on 3 are for Skype-to-Skype calls made from the UK " so I wonder what the roaming charges are for Skype calls?

When i looked into 3 they did not cover Spain- Italy no problem great if they have expanded

Good point Phil.  I will go out at lunch-time today and ask the question in some of the phone shops.  Will post the answer this pm.

It appears that if you used skype to skype mobile phones your call from the UK would be free but the person you are phoning in Spain would be charged.  The only relatively cheap way would be to call from a lap top so it would mean taking your laptop with you to Spain and finding a wifi internet cafe etc and doing it that way.

Maybe Polaris should look at renting phone lines by the week/fortnight etc.

Skype abroad on your mobile (iphone or similar) will be charged as DATA Roaming and you are not actually making a phonecall but use the internet (VOIP). Data roaming charges will be applicable and are extortionately expensive.

(in uk is is part of your data package).

Only way around is to have your phone unlocked, by a spanish SIM card from the shops (pay as you go) that includes a good deal on data usage.
