I've just been informed of the following by my lawyer
"As your fiscal representatives in Spain we must advise you that besides the Spanish Income tax for Non-Residents, which we have contacted you about earlier this year, you are also responsible to pay a Local Rates (Council) Tax (Impuesto sobre Inmuebles I.B.I) once a year. This is a tax issued by the local town hall in San Javier. Since your properties are new construction it takes a while for the town hall to introduce the properties into the tax system and for the first bill to be issued. However, once your properties are in the system, you are still responsible to pay the tax for all the years you have been the owner of the properties. We have contacted the town hall every year since you have completed on your properties and finally they have confirmed that this year the taxes will be issued. When we spoke to the tax office earlier this year they informed us that you would receive the bill at your properties in Roda Golf sometime around the end of the summer. We are informing you now so that you can be aware that this bill is coming and make sure it gets paid before the due date so that you do not incur any late charges."
Theres me thinking the community charges were getting ridiculously high and now we going to be slapped with local council tax as well - and due to their own poor admin, we are going to have to pay this backdated to when we completed!
anybody else on phase 1 had this brought up yet?
Phase 2 & 3 might as get ready for next years billing..
