In a quandary! To get onto the Spanish property ladder we invested in a 2bed 1st floor property at Duquesa Village, phase 2 nearly 4years ago, with view to renting out until our retirement in 7years time, completion is imminent. After the long wait, we are now not sure whether to try to sell before/after completion or hang on to it. Does anyone know the short/long term renting potential in this area?

Would advise you to hang on to it if you can. Rentals are never 100% guaranteed so only keep it if you can afford to. Reckon the development will go up in price once it is fully completed and matured. Duquesa is an up and coming area, with the new four star hotel, golf course etc. Also Disney are possibly planning to open a resort in Manilva which would be great for rentals.

That's interesting information about the Disney World and very promising.
Three thoughts though:
1. Is there any sign of any effective planning control coming in to effect any time soon. Otherwise we might
see a continuation of massive development that results in over supply.
2. As inland properties are much more inexpensive, will would-be renters be happy to rent inland if they are
visiting DisneyLand.
3. Will the DisneyLand development include a mass of associated residential property too.
Not wishing to appear a sceptic but looking at the excesses of the last five years of development boom it's difficult
to imagine any kind of 'control' over building.

All this talk of Disney is pie in the Sky.
It has been talked about for years and at present they have no intention of developing in the foreseeable future.

Michael52, can you post a specific link that will take us to anything on Spanishpropertyinsight.com? All I can find is reference to Disney on their forum boards. As far as I have read (as probably most other people, The Times article in April or so last year), it is not a full-blown resort but a kids adventure/education camp. Disney already hold an annual family golf competition at Duquesa Golf course also. I can't seem to find anything that suggests different to what was reported in The Times, so local knowledge would be appreciated!

Thanks, Justin - with what was reported, it would appear so and I haven't seen anything to the contrary! Good to hear it from you though!! I think it will be a great thing - our son in the camp and us out on the golf course! Great time for all!

Is your view based on your local knowledge as I know you are resident in the area. It will be a welcome boost for the area that's for sure but as a non resident looking inwards there doesn't seem to be anything more than speculation. I hope you are right thouigh

Over the past 6 months I have spent a considerable amount of time at the town hall. I have made a lot of contacts there (not all of them good) but I am aware that the Disney plans are real. It's not going to be a full blow theme park like Euro Disney. It's going to be a much smaller affair, something like a Disney summer camp.
Disney last year began hosting a children's golf day in the area which they plan to repeat this year. So there is Disney involvment already. But it will be a few years before they build the summer camp.
