HI KD
The solicitor got in touch yesterday as I have got the keys so needed letting into the apartment to fit the meter (I have left one key with Nel to allow access for the snagging to be done and the furniture to be fitted). I presume the apartments will be fitted all at the same time.
Totally agree about the apartments they look fantastic.
Was the road open at the top by block one and lower down by the Calanova Beach Golf apartments as they were blocked when we were there.
Watch out when you get your keys, the pack they give you contains a scraper with a razor blade in it for the oven top which I took through the airport without knowing and had it removed by the security staff.

Hi Paul,
I was beginning to wonder where I had bought when they equip you with razor blades as part of your welcome pack....sounded very prison'ish when I first read your post :-)
Thanks for the tip though!!
The road was closed off on both sides still and they had a security guard at the entrance near block one who wouldnt let me through until Nel arrived. The entrance into block 3 looked very impressive when I went to Nels office, the olive tree and the general landscaping looked really good.
I cant believe how fast the development in front of block 2 is going up, the only thing I am happy about is that it looks to be a good design and finish so wont be a major eyesore but still not happy with the closeness to us.
Another thing I noticed and not sure if its because of the building in front blocking us but there was just no road noise when I was on the terrace, it was so peaceful and it was amazing as we are just a few minutes walk from the road.
Finally, has anyone had their apartments valued? I am just curious if they have appreciated in value at all? or has it been stable due to current conditions?
Thanks
Kaush

Hi Kaush
Our 2 bed was valued around 20% above the purchase price and that was around August last year. In the long term and when the Oasis has matured I think these apartments are going to be very very desirable and the price in the future will reflect this.

HI
We also had Gisons to do the snagging report and think he did a first rate job.We are using a shipping company to take the furniture but in the meentime the wife would like some window measurements .I assume the 2 bed 2 bath apartments are all standardwidth floor to ceiling height.Iwould appreciate size of the both patio doors and width and height of bedroom and living room if anybody could advise ?
If not ,does anybody know Nell's number on the Oasis site?

Have just noticed this on IPS website. Looks like they are dropping their prices of Oasis apartments to 230,00€ and 235,00€.

I expect they are in Block 2 due to the apartments being so close, I know some are for sale with quarter ownership in block 2. All the apartments are 2 bed or more and started from 250k€ but do remember the phase 1 prices being a little lower in July 2004 but that didn't seem to last for long.

Hi
Does anybody already have a burgler alarm installed by the builder as stated in our specifications? Nel is not very forthcoming with any info on this.
See www.oasislacalademijas.com and any advertising for these apartments and it clearly states they have individual alarms, but we can't find one in our apartment and are still waiting for a reply from Nel.

Hi everyone
I was wondering if you were all happy with your apartments? I am still negotiating with the developer before completion due to my blocked view from the building in front. On my original documents it stated that there would be no building in front. Before I carry on with the purchase, I would really appreciate the thoughts of those of you who have completed.
many thanks, Lizzie Lowe

When we bought our apartment, due the fact there no licence to build in front of us, as was obviously true at the time, but could change at anytime as advised by our lawyer. One year down the line our lawyer went to Mijas Town Hall and faxed us in the UK to advise us that a licence was now in place to build opposite us (we are in block 1A) and did we still want to continue with the sale. We O.K'd the sale. This being the case, unfortunately, recourse in this particular instance is null and void as your lawyer is remis in his/her diligence in keeping you informed regarding this situation.
Good luck, but legally, I doubt you have any recourse anymore than any of us, who are extremely unhappy at loosing the sea views as promised when advertised.

Hi everyone
We are just back from La Cala, with mixed feelings.
On one hand it was good to finally be staying in the apartment, to see others moving in and to meet some of our neighbours. On the other hand we were disappointed with a few things.
We had our snagging carried out at the beginning of February but when we arrived a month later none of the work had been carried out. We are disappointed with the overall finish and attention to detail, not only in our apartment but in the common areas as well. We feel that the developement was so far behind schedule that they have cut corners to get it finished but don't think that it is really fit for habitation yet.
There is still a security man at weekends and evenings as the street lights are still not on, they are waiting for the town hall to do this.
Work is still ongoing and they are working their way round each block, so you just need to be patient!
Initially we had asked about putting a grill over the kitchen window as we felt it was a security risk and was told that it would be ok as long as they were in keeping with the others used in the developement. When we arrived 2 weeks ago, Nel told us that they were putting a hold on this until the community had met and made decisions. We were fine with that until one day we had locked ourselves out of our apartment. The office was closed and there was only a few workers around. We explained our situation to one of them, he said "no problem" and proceeded to lift the shutter, open our "LOCKED" window and get into the apartment. All this was done in about 30 seconds. We were obviously grateful but it showed us how easily the apartments can be broken into. Personally we feel that grills would be of benefit to everyone.
We are also very concerned about the piece of spare land at the front of the developement. We have always been told that it will be a green zone but as we all know things can change very quickly. At present it is a bit of an eye sore and has the potential to become a dumping ground. If indeed it is owned by the Town Hall and it is to be a green zone, we may have to keep pushing at this.
On a lighter note, we were told that facilities for Sky Tv will soon be installed.
On some of the points below, I think that the starting price for the apartments was £270k.
In the initial documentation it stated that there would be pre-installation for alarms, having to set it up yourself but in the new website they do make it seem like there will be an alarm already set up.
Hope some of this is of help.
Carol

Hi
Has anyone heard anything regarding the street lighting at Oasis? Why the lights are not on yet, when they are likely to be on and what the delay is?
I have asked Nel a couple of times and keep getting told "in a few weeks".
Thanks
Carol

Hi!
Re lighting at Oasis - we attended the first Community meeting last week - the Administrator & the Promotor / developer were both there. The street lighting was discussed - apparently it's partly down to the other development in front of Oasis - and of course the Town Hall! Also mentioned - it seems that copper for the lighting had 'disappeared' from wherever - another reason for the delay! Anyhow, no-one was able to say exactly when the lighting would be functional!
Also discussed - the swimming pools should be in action by 1 April - or within the next couple of weeks.
Work is still ongoing around the site - mainly finishing touches.
Other items were also brought up at the meeting - the Administrator will be circulating the minutes to all the owners.

Hi all
The street lights are now on and sky tv is ready for installing.
The Alamar development next to us looks like it is nearing completion, at least the cranes are now gone.
Does anyone have any information on installing an alarm, names of companies and costings?
Thanks
Carol

Has anyone purchased spare remote fobs for the electric garage doors while in Spain? I know you can get them on-line in England for £29.00

Hi
Hope everyone is enjoying their new apartments in La Cala.
I think at the Community Meeting in September there will be discussion on the security and whether or not to keep the security man. We have always been in favour of keeping him on but even more so now. Friends of ours were staying at the La Noria development ( near the market), and returned one evening to find the apartment broken into and all their valuables taken. They had left the apartment fully locked and the shutters down.
We know there is no such thing as 100% security but we can try to put as many deterrents and obstacles in their way as possible.
