New gym

Just back from CDA and the new gym is now open.  Apparently it opened last week.

Further to previous posts, you can get a weekly membership which costs 20 euros which seems ok so means anyone out there for a holiday/renting can use the facility without having an annual membership.

Annual memberships are still available for people living on site.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow of the new facility.

20 euros sounds like a bargain and perfect for short stay visitors. How well equipped is the gym and is there changing facililities included?

I've added the photos to this website so you can take a look yourself now.  It was my wife who went in so can't tell you exactly how big but you get an idea from the pictures and she did say its pretty much the same size as the supermarket was when it was still there.

I presume the changing rooms are included as these have been operational since the sports centre opened last year.

Thanks for the photo's Phil B, think the gym looks very good. Like the idea of a weekly membership- its a moderate price, was never going to be peanuts. I know if you have a family it could still total a lot but its a better rate than the monthly membership. Gym's are rarely priced as low as you'd like and they have had to refit and buy the equipment so are bound to want to recoup some of that. Tiniest downside is that there's no windows to great views or tv's. But, I think its a great resource for the resort and with the bar area and other courts it'll be great..

Thought I would bring this thread back up and thanks to Jill and Terry for the below info.......

We were pleased today when we went by Condado De Alhama new gymnasium and found it staffed and open.  The gym is well equipped and the rates and plans that are comparable to that in surrounding towns. We were able  to get some prices.

For the owners and guests visiting Condado on holiday they have a per week plan of 20E per person.

3 month plan 170 Euros.

6 month plan is 40.50 Euros a month on a direct debit.

12 Month plan 36 Euros a month on direct debit.

They have a family plan which includes all family members under 21 for a monthly plan of 63 Euros a month on direct debit.

All memberships include a discount on all the tennis, squash and paddle courts, members will be charged only 1.50 Euros per person per use.

Non members can pay per use, Paddle 10 Euros, Tennis 6 Euros and Squash at 4 Euros.

The Sports facilities and gymnasium will be open Friday through Monday is 9:00 ~ 14:00 siesta closing 17:00 ~ 21:30.  Tuesday through Thursday the hours are  9:00 ~ 23:00.

Thanks for the info on Gym can you confirm whether the tennis courts etc. are priced per person or per court, seems a bit pricey for four kids if 6 Euros each.

Interested to read in the minutes of the last meeting that back in April 2009 PW said that the Sports area would be for the free use of the community and not given to a business to make money from.

This is being taken up by our new Administrators.

The problem is with these areas is they need someone to run and maintain them which costs money, I personally would rather pay for the one off game of tennis or gym than have the sports area added to the community charge.

The thing is - the gym and sports area should have been just for Condado residents, owners and renters not for the general public. Jardines de Alhama should have been a closed community just like La Isla. I believe Jose Henrandez said he would return the sports zone and privacy of the Jardines back to the community. I object to the fact that the 'off plan' rule has taken away one of the main reasons we bought at Condado and feel we should push for the return and security of having a closed community even if we have to pay a few euro's more community charge. In time La Isla will have kudos that Jardines and Naranjos have lost which will increase their proerty saleability and I have no idea why we cannot make a case for returning to the original concept.

The thought of a Mars bar is very tempting. or a Bounty.

The great things about some gyms & beauty parlours is that you lose loads if weight, you tone up very quickly & the machines do it all for you.

Costs a bit but boy is it worth it
