Rubbish dump- anyone else fed up with it?

Hi

We've just returned from a lovely week at Roda, everything was fab, apartment, weather, golf course and restaurant was ok (service a bit hit and miss depending on who's on duty).  The main thing that is annoying us is the rubbish tip on the left as you go over the hill.  It seems to be getting worse.  Is that land part of San Javier or Los Alcazares council?  Does anyone know, or have you complained before?  What's the best way to go about getting anything done?

Hi - I totally agree with your comments. Its a real eyesore on the approach to Roda. Im not sure who is responsible for it (the council ?) but I think it would help Roda resort if they tidied it up. The mess could put potential buyers off and probably has - its also not nice for renters and us owners of course !  Cathy.

 The unofficial rubbish dump is indeed in the council area of Los Alcazares and we recently asked Marisol to write to Los Alcazares Townhall to have it cleaned up/removed as it was cleaned up really well last year. It certainly is an eyesore and must represent a health hazard with the temperatures currently in the 30's. 

I will check with Housing as to what the outcome of the letter has been and post the information when I get it.

We were there a couple of weeks ago and commented much along the same lines. It definitely is an eyesore and not the type of 'scenery' you want to view as you approach Roda Golf & Beach Resort.

We were saying the same thing a couple of weeks ago when we were there.  It is an eyesore for both owners and renters and an embarrassment when you are taking guests with you.  We talked about contacting the Council (LA or San Javier, we weren't sure) as we all pay our local taxes so look forward to hearing what response Marisol had.  Isn't there a EU directive on dumping rubbish or is it just the UK who follow those rules.

Agree it needs to be looked at and pressure put on the local Council.

I took freinds the other day to the Clubhouse for a drink and on the way they spotted the rubbish and mentioned its a shame to have that outside the " Front Door " so to speak

Is it me but it also seems to be getting bigger and spreading ?

I am just back from Roda , Mar Menor wonderful ,

I think  the walk down to town is spoilt by the rubbish tip and bad pathway under road both could be improved and make it a pleasant walk into Los Narjos and Los Alcazares  as both have good holiday  potential,  but it feels like an obstacle course to get there. 

The taxi service is good but as the distance is short we should not feel it is the only option for safety and scenery its like having to navigate a ghetto to get to the beauty of the area does anyone agree, maybe the council could clean it up.

Hello All,The local councils and the area tourist board etc have web sites. When I had a personqal problem I got in touch with them. Rather than wasting time speaking to the converted on EOS, why not spend 3 minutes looking them up on the web and complaining to the people who may help.

 You will be glad to note that the dump is being cleaned up at the moment and already looks much better. They have finally built a wall of stones and mud to stop access by cars into the field where people were dumping just about everything.

Hopefully it will look a lot better very quickly but it is good to see that Los Alcazares Council have taken note of the letter from Marisol in Housing and the photo evidence which I forwarded to La Verdad's community page asking for action.
