Communal Garden clean up

Thanks have to go out to 2 owners on Calle Limonero - Phase 1 - who worked their socks off this morning, weeding the communal gardens outside the properties that face on to Limonero and Peral.

Attempts have been made since June to get Taray and/or the council to sort out the shabby state of the gardens, but Colin and Gill, along with Jack and Gill were out there early this morning tidying up the whole place which looks a whole lot better than it did.

New signs went up yesterday regarding dog mess, so I thought i'd clear up what I could today in the hope that people will take notice and keep the place poo free! There was a lot of it out there. I attempted to empty bins but  the one on the corner of Limonero was disgusting beyond belief. Not only was it overflowing but it was stuffed full of soiled nappies and,believe it or not, a soiled bed sheet! Come on people, let's have some pride. Keep the area's outside your properties clean and tidy. Andy, who lives along from me on Limonero, was soon out this morning doing his bit. Cheers Andy.

Strewth - cannot believe your email about emptying (or trying to) the bins.  Hopefully the people who disposed of soiled nappies and bedding will be reading EOS and, I trust, feel very ashamed of themselves.  Will be out soon to see for myself what is going on.

Thanks go to people like yourself and Andy who have taken it into your own hands to keep the place tidy.  I will certainly do my bit when I am over.  Hacienda San Cayetano is such a lovely complex and one we all want to be proud of.  As the owner of Taray told me when I signed my contract "this is the jewel in our crown"!  Should they not be doing their bit to ensure it is kept tidy?

Pinot,  thanks for your posting, it's good to know you will pitch in when you are here. Jack and Jill, who own their place below us, come out regularly and are very keen to do their bit. Taray can't be relied upon to fulfil their promises but I'm pretty sure we can rely on each other, however few we may be. I'm just so pleased that there are others out there that feel as we do. San Cayetano is a nice place and deserves some TLC. By the way, where is your property?

Between the time you left here this morning, about 11o/c, and now, some filthy owner has left their dog's mess in full view of our apartments. I didn't witness the event but I'm pretty sure I know the who the thoughtless owner is. If I catch the dog in the act next time I will personally deliver the package to the owner. What will make these cretins clear up after their dogs? It makes you wonder which one is the animal.

I am not offering excuses for such behaviour but I wonder if the soiled nappies were put in the bins by short term holiday renters finding the in-house bins were being overwhelmed by the quantity and smell of disposables and the bedding put there because they did not want whoever cleans/maintains the rented property to discover the guilty secret. It might be that such people are unaware of the location of the large refuse bins or think that, as often in the U.K., bins of that size are for commercial waste only -  putting a takeaway pizza box in such a bin here can earn you a well rehearsed lecture on business waste disposal costs !

A notice giving guidance in this matter placed in rental properties might help though I admit not with the dog fouling. At least the nappies were not simply flushed down the toilet.

J.P.R.-  the nappies and bed sheet I discovered in the litter bin were not even bagged, just shoved into the bin. Utter filth!
