Roda Golf Society

Congratulations to all those who finally made a Roda Golf Society a reality last Wednesday with an away day at El Valle Golf Resort.

A good inaugural turnout enjoyed perfect conditions at this desert style interesting golf course, generously sponsored by Mick "The Grip" Reeves and attended and supported by Roda's very own Director of Golf, Chema Arturo all members enjoyed a social and extremely friendly days golf.

Mens prize was snatched by Phil "the Knee" with a creditable 35 stapleford points with Denise " I had no help from the Boss" scooping the ladies pool on 34 points.

The next event at Roda at the end of November is already proving to be popular especially as it is followed by a traditional Xmas dinner.

A full calendar of events both home and away is proposed for next year with proposed dates to be sent early so we can all plan our trips out to Roda.

All members, owners and friends are welcome to join, even if you can only make a limited number of events.

This is the first I have heard of this but it is great news.

I just had the other hip done so won't be playing for a while. Can I join the group in the Clubhouse for the Xmas Dinner in November or do I have to play as it would be nice to meet the members and I have managed to miss quite a few of the Social events in the last year? 

I will be happy to talk "golf" even if I won't be on course for a while.

Good luck with the hip hope you ll be back on the course soon, have just enjoyed a great few weeks with good friends.

I think the Xmas dinner may already be full up but you need to talk to the locals who organise most of the social golf on Roda including initiating AGR the association that speaks for all golf rights holders, they were also instrumental in getting the new Roda Golf management to start the Socios on a monthly basis all stemming from the regular 3 day a week social golf in the mornings using the Rights holders priority tee times.

All members, owners and their friends/ guests are welcome to join in and the formation of a society takes it to the next level of trying to ensure we resemble a members social golf club even though the course has had to become more of a pay and play society course and to a certain extent we have lost a clubhouse to a private restaurant facility.

There is already a nucleus of locals who are joined by those on short visits to ensure finding a game is always easy. The number declaring an interest to join in a society has now exceeded 65 and still growing

Just ask in the proshop to point out Logan, Mario, Danny, Graham or John M, if you can't play I m sure they would welcome any assistance you can offer.
