Honest Opinion! I do think Alhama will be chosen to house Paramount.
Hoewever, I suspect they will have trouble securing the funding needed and the place will never get built. I also believe that Murcia council are enjoying the hype. This is generating interest in the area and buoying confidence.
When established parks like Terra Mitica and Port Aventura are losing money, in areas with much more tourism, I think investers will not want to build a new competing park in Murcia.

In the current economic, I'm taking nothing for granted. Those involved tell the media that getting the investment shouldn't be a problem, but whether or not that's fact or bluster is anybody's guess.
I'm certainly not counting my chickens until the last brick is laid, so I'm more hopeful than optimistic. Right now I'd say it's probably 50-50 but in the absence of any facts that's based solely on gut feeling, I've no idea of that's overly optimistic or unduly pessimistic.
But if it doesn't go ahead I'm no worse off than I am now, so although I'd of course be delighted if it did materialise, I won't be crying myself to sleep if it didn't. Unlike some. ;)

Yes, It has been well documented that Alhama is the chosen area. The exact site has yet to be decided by will either be Condado 2, or the site behind it nearer the RM2, either way it will be close enough to have an effect and Condado seems to be the "preferred" site.
The final decision and the initial plans should be available April time.
As Darren says, the next hurdle will be raising the finances. A quick look in the Spanish papers will show the hugh amount to publicity and interest is being taken in this project, an entire day is being dedicated to the project in the coming Madrid tourism fair and the fact that the AIF is being held in Murcia is of interest. So for me, yes, I believe that it will happen. Guess time will tell.

As Darren says Terra Mitica and Port Aventura are loosing money but the one thing that neither have is that Paramount is known world wide. Plus Paramount in America is a major & very popular destination. Fortunatly for Spain Fly time is much better so should attract many who could not possibly afford the flight to America.
For the first time we have joined the 50/50 brigade regarding its completion
Either way we still have no regrets about our purchase.
Originally bought to compensate Ham `s pension the thought of ever having to sell it is some thing we would not concider now. Infact we are more likely to sell our UK home & live on condado than the other way around.
Of course it would mean that I would seriously have to reduce the number of clothes, handbags & shoes in the move but I would be happy to do so.

Latest I have read ' Banks greed forces Paramount to look elsewhere'. This I believe relates to the ex Polaris world land now owned by the Banks.
Like many other Spanish these days if they can make a large buck out of some one else they will try.

On the subject of the land price, I am sure it will be a case of bluff & counter bluff by the respective parties to the the very last minute. Haggling is not just at the local markets is it ?

The presentation of the Paramount Murcia project.
This will show the steps taken to date to bring the Paramount project to the region, and will include a presentation showing the history of the Paramount studios organisation and discuss the nature of the project which is to be developed within the Region.
Since November representatives from Paramount have been working in co-ordination with Santa Monica, who have invested 80% of the initial capital into the project, to create a master plan, the design of which is likely to be made public in the late spring, when the search for investors really begins.
The park will be built in Alhama, although as to date there is no firm agreement as to which of the 2 potential sites will ultimately be chosen and will be innovative, ground breaking and focus on new technologies, animation and digital leisure.

The local press and web sites seem to be of the opinion that it's a two horse race where Paramount will hopefuly be built , one is on Condado and the other 5 minutes up the road. Surely if this is correct then either way Condado and all the surrounding area will benefit, in my opinion probably better if was up the road as Condado would benefit without losing too much of the peace and tranquility that many people love it for, including us , therefor keeping everyone happy.

just a thought going through my mind Ha
Paramount build on the resort that never came off think this is on the RM3 or RM2 ten minutes away from Condado.
this would still be a huge attraction for the area and be posative for Condado, the banks lose out due to their greed and who knows the resort that was our dream gets finished by a developer with great foresight.
ha been drinking carlsberg again.

Yes Paramount will come to Alhama.Yes the funding will be arranged.The Murcia havent built a huge new airport(due to open later this year hopefully) and huge road infrastructure for nothing. Murcia need Paramount. Whether it is on the condado site or one near is still to be confirmed though.Remember this is a 4/5 year project when hopefully the world and spanish financial system will be on a much better plane. Buy cheap sell expensive is an age old adage and with wages and land so cheap at the moment the shrewd investors who will be in for the long haul will eventually reap the benefits.
