Metal Grills

Hi All

Can anyone advise if you are allowed to have grills (white) fitted to the upper floor apartments in the Jardins. We are thinking of fitting to the front window for added security, but not sure if it goes against the community rules.

I'm not sure that you can fit grills on the 2 bed living room or bedroom windows- it may come under the 'nothing to be attached to the building' category. I couldn't upload the aesthetic modification booklet into the photo section as its not JPEG but below is from the leaflet which is available on the community website and also covers awnings, blocking in of laundry area, replacing grass with tiles, fencing etc:-

"REJAS O CERRAMIENTOS DE SEGURIDAD

The installation of grates in the windows of the back patios of the ground floors, as well as in the windows of the cleanliness to the lateral facade in the cases of the houses will be allowed corner. Gratings of forge will be allowed solely and always in white color. "

This appears to be saying that all end apartments can have grills on their bathroom windows. I think its okay to have blinds on the front window, as we have on the upstairs bedroom windows.

We asked about the grills when being shown around and the agent told us PW didnt want them as they wanted to portray that the resort was safe and secure and the fitting of grills suggest otherwise.

Maybe one of the Presidents could  offer a bit of clarity.

People have done it on other resorts, once you have been broke in ,you will think about having them .

we have thought about having them- but prefer in black. Wouldneed to be certain they are within the rules, as its alot of expense to be told to have them taken away.

They black and white on la torre, bars and shutters you name it they have it.

Currently they are against the rules, but these are being revised for a vote at the AGM in May.

As you say, currently bars are only allowed downstairs and in white....

So, don't do anything until after the AGM as the community will be chasing those who break the rules.

How do you know there are changes to the rules planned for discussion- has there been something posted somewhere about what these changes might be and who has put them forward?

 It was stated at the last AGM that the rules would be reviewed and I've seen on another forum that it's on the agenda for this months presidents meeting.

 The AGM is on 29th May.

The Agenda and venue for the AGM, will be issued with the call to the meeting which should be issued 10 days before. 

Many thanks all for your responses. Think we will await outcome of the AGM, and the review of the rules. That said, would hope that they look favourably upon allowing the grills. As long it is only on the front window, and in white, I really don't see why it should be an issue, as aesthetically they will look fine, and it gives 'peace of mind ' regards extra security, for those of us who are not permanent residents.

You can always fit internal security grills, they don't need to be external!!
