I've been hacked!

Went into a spam email from yahoo. Asked me to upgrade to new version and download firefox.

Did that and then I could not get back in.

Had messages from all over the world asking about message I sent them - asking for them to send me 1850 euros as I had gone on holiday to Spain and lost my wallet and phone. Police and embassy wouldn't help me.

Nobody has paid ransom for me!

Obviously this was a scam but I have had to change my email address to barrybarker46@yahoo.co.uk (password changed)

If you need to contact me about golf society etc use this or private message.

If there are computer experts out there is there anything else I should do? Was firefox a hoax and is there a spy sitting on my hard drive waiting to access the passwords to my bank account?

This happened to me too. All of my address book received similar emails. My next door neighbour new it couldn't be me as she'd seen me hanging out the washing! The only thing that you might need to do now unfortunately is delete everyone on your address book, as you might find these spam emails still getting through, which happened to me quite a lot after changing my password. I've kept my yahoo account open but anything I want to send on I have to resort to the handwritten list!

As per my previous post I got hacked, changed my password but everyone on my address book still received spam emails supposedly from me for weeks and weeks afterwards, that's why I deleted everyone in my address book, so be very careful especially with online banking.

A simular thing happened to me at the beginning of the year.   I contacted Yahoo, and asked the question to them, I had a online chat with an advisor who afterwards emails the whole conversation to you.

In fact the person advised me to do what vivaespana sugested and since then nothing has happened.

I'm not going to be brave enough to say whether it'll would work for you, but it might be a good idea to contact yahoo anyway as they appreciated to hear about any spams, hoaxs etc.,
