Thankyou

Hi K,
I guess it depends on what you personally consider to be sporting activities......
There is swimming, walking, cycling, golf, jogging, squash courts, outdoor tennis courts, 5-a-side football courts, grassed football pitches, an outdoor basketball court and my personal favorite............. a bar with pool tables ;-)

I would say that the Walking, Cycling and Jogging facilities are basically the Paths and roads, which you find in most urbanisations.
However being a "Half Full Kind of guy" how about, Diving, Sycronised Swimming, Orienteering, Sprinting and Power Walking?
I do believe the tennis and squash courts are no longer in use though!

Hi Everyone
Thanks for the replies, it is the Condado resort and is in fact an apartment they are looking at (my mistake there). Had a browse around some sites myself for them and found some info on Football and BAsketball courts, are these still in use? Think this is what they wanted to find out about as the rental said about swimming in a shared pool and mountain walks etc but it was the 'On site Sports Activities' which ther were curious about as it didnt specify and it could have meant anything.
Is there equipment hire for the football, basketball and cycling?
THanks for the help

There is bike hire on Condado- either from the supermarket or some individuals do it as well across the resort.
There are football pitches and there is a sports zone with squash, paddle tennis and basket ball courts and a unit for a bar or coffee shop. There should be a gym based there too. At present that area is all closed as it was managed by one of Polaris's subsiduary companies and for the time being that company doesnt exist anymore. So the facilities are there but are not officially in use and there's no where to hire equipment. Hopefully if Paramount Resort becomes a reality the Sports Zone will be one of the 1st things PW get back into. We know they have a four year option to take it all back so here's hoping.

If its "one Site Sports Activities" you want you may be better off looking at La Manga Club, they have plenty of on-site facilities.
Some people who rent out apartments try to make the area seem really appealing stretching the truth regarding sports facilities. The truth is you can rent bikes and go cycling, rent gold clubs and play golf, play pool/darts in the pub and swim in the communal pools.
If you want to take part in any other sports you will need to bring or buy your own eqipment.

Hi again folks,
I'm itching to know what "One Site Sports Activities" are?
Yes DW, you got me, I was talking about the paths and roads to go walking, jogging, skiping, etc.

Hi WW
got back from CDA yesterday. the on site sporting facilities are there (squash courts, football pitches, paddle tennis) but 1)you need to take your own equipment, 2) there is no one to sort out hiring them with (even if you do want to pay you can't find out how much and where to pay) and 3) most of them are locked up and those that you can gain entrance to you get thrown off by the security people!
Bike hire is easier (via supermarket) but if i was you try jogging (only equipment is a pair of trainers and a bottle of water)!!

The security people will not throw you off, or at least they should not be. Ar you talking from experience?
The security staff are employed by the community, which has nothing to do with the sports ares which is owned by the banks.
If you have real first hand knowledge, I would like to know about it.

We were out last weekend and had a very pleasant game of tennis without the need to break in
Security drove past a couple of times and smiled politely at us so I very much doubt they are under instructions to throw people out

Well lets see
you could play squash if you break in (sneeked in at midnight to play squash with a blind guy - he won) - Light the blue touch paper and stand well back.
I was there recently myself the sports Zone standding idle is a real shame - someone must have the knowledge of how to get this up and running by the community. set up perfectly for a little cafe mornings only.
Create a few jobs for the residents maybe.

Last year this was looked into in detail by the Presidents and the Banks want a lot of money for the community to lease the whole area. There is then cost involved for hiring gym equipment and setting up a coffee bar, snack bar or whatever and payment of insurances. Thats if an agreement can be achieved about a a food and drink outlet being run by anyone other than PW- they generally maintain the monopoly on that.
But the other issue is that PW have a buy back agreement with the Banks that stands for four years. This means that even if the community run it and set up the coffee bar, gym or community room, run the courts and have staff and equipment PW can step back in at any time and take it over which means that the initial set up outlay by the community and annual running costs may not be financially viable- they may even be hard to pay back if the sports zone went back to PW sooner than the full four years.
Although the sports zone has great potential it still has to pay its way through the off season monthsand the community may struggle financially in those months to cover costs- so knowing it could only be for few short years makes it difficult to justify the finances required.
Maybe if Paramount becomes a reality PW will step back in sooner rather than later.

all the paddle courts are unlocked and so is one of the squah courts. you can also easily access the tennis courts.
the basketball/5 aside footy pitch is also unlocked.
Ive never seen the security guards take any notice so enjoy whilst its free.

Good morning Jan
there are plenty of intelligent people on the resort who could work out a way around the legals.
A feasibility study being the starting point however to just dismiss this and let the area fall into disrepair would be an even bigger loss in my humble opinion.
Surely there is an entrepreneur english or spanish who would take a risk with this.
internet is already set up there - little cafe bar - snacks - ????
