I have been transferring money out to Spain for a few years now to pay the costs on our apartment in DV. I started off using HiFX then settled on Sterling Exchange to transfer my GBP into Euros and into my Spanish bank account. I have recently started using XE.com and thought i'd share it with you to say how impressed I am. It's an online service and you can view and select your rate at any time so as they fluctuate during the day you can hopefully watch and get the best or at least a better rate on the day than the one a trader will offer after you finally manage to get hold of them. The difference between the published exchange rate and the rate you are offered is in my experience only about 1.45% which is a lot less than the 2% I was having to negotiate hard to get with the other companies. I paid XE by direct transfer from my Lloyds account and that cleared within hours and only a further two working days for it to clear into my Spanish account with no transfer fees.
I've no connection with Xe but just thought I’d share it with other owners on DV as I was so impressed and might be helpful to others.
