SO VERY HAPPY TO LET YOU ALL KNOW THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN THE COMMUNAL SATELLITE ENGINEERS TODAY AT HACIENDA, WHO SAID ALL INSTALLATION SHOULD BE FINISHED BY THE END OF TODAY.

WILL CONFIRM AS SOON AS WE CAN PUT THIS TO THE TEST

Although I spoke to the technicians who were fitting the system - it would appear that it is not yet fully connected.

I was in an apartment today, and despite connecting and testing a digibox - no signal was being received.

Sadly - as it is Día de Andalucia ( holiday - 23º - and wall to wall sunshine) - no -one is working and I am not able to follow this up.

Will do so tomorrow, and post response to forum

I HAVE TODAY TRIED TO CONTACT THE ADMINISTRATORS - TO CHECK ON THE SATELLITE CONNECTION.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WHO ARE NOT TOO FAMILIAR WITH THE SPANISH WAY OF LIFE - THERE EXISTS A TERM CALLED -

MEANING BRIDGE -

IT MEANS THAT WHEN THERE HAS BEEN A NATIONAL OR LOCAL HOLIDAY - THE LOCALS TEND TO 'STEAL' AN EXTRA DAY

AFTER IT - OR 2 - OR 3 - IF THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH IT.

TODAY WAS QUITE CLEARLY A 'PUENTE'  FOR THE HACIENDA DE MIJAS GOLF ADMINISTRATION COMPANY - THAT IS - NO ANSWER WHEN I CALLED THEM.

WILL UPDATE YOU ALL TOMORROW - ASSUMING THAT THEY DON'T TRY AND TAKE ANOTHER ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is an individual digi box needed for the communal satellite dish and if so what type is needed and where can you buy them? Any help would be appreciated

Firstly - sorry that I was unable to get in touch with Administrators office on Friday - to check on status of satellite connection.

I will call them tomorrow.

Each apartment will need a digibox, as long as it is a Sky system, I don't think it matters which make.

I am not too familiar with UK prices - but you can buy a good box here, which will give you all 'free to air' programmes ( All BBC & ITV) for approx € 220 Euros.

JUST TO UPDATE YOU - I HAVE SPOKEN TO THE COMPANY WHO HAVE INSTALLED THE SATTELITE SYSTEM.

THEY SAY THAT THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN CHECKED & IT IS WORKING - THE ONLY PROOF OF THIS WILL BE IF SOMEONE HAS GOT A 'MODERN' DIGIBOX CONNECTED WITH IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE INSTALLATION ( NOT USING THEIR OWN - SELF INSTALLED DISH).

IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO CAN CONFIRM THIS? OTHERWISE - WE JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE THE SATELLITE COMPANY - FOR THE TIME BEING !!!

I'm sure you will get taken up on your offer of DVDs to watch Howard!!

Have been told that you have to leave digibox connected for about 24 hours - but that may just be heresay!!

Will contact installer again tomorrow.

It seems that we may have been offered a very 'futile' gesture by Evemarina to do a satellite installation!!

Several people on the complex had already expressed doubt as to the 'capabiltities' of the 3 dishes which are supposed to have been installed ( only 2 visible to me).

No-one - to date - even with up to date digiboxes - seems to be able to receiving a signal.

I will call the satellite installation company tomorrow, and follow it through with a call to the administrator-  WATCH THIS SPACE !!

Thanks for your reply and thanks for all the infomation you have provided for us over the past year or so. It has kept us residents who can't be in Spain full time well informed in the progress of the complex
