Severe Storm Today

As I sit here on Corvera we are in the middle of a severe storm with very heavy rain, thunder and hail stones, in fact patio has a covering of hail stones plus as normal the muddy water in running into the swimming pools

Because of the volume of water we will again have to carry out severe weather checks looking for damage and I suggest if you have a property here that you arrange this with your keyholders

The storm has been on now for the last 30 minutes and shows no sign of stopping yet and wasn't forecasted

Due to the severity of the weather there has been water damage to a number of properties especially ground floor Tilos and Olma villas

You do need to get somebody to check your properties ASAP, we have had to bail out 3 properties so far, luckliy because we are based onsite and were able to check the properties straight waway  the damages were minor

There is a lot of damage around the site, blocked drains and at one time a river running behind the office and down the side of Miguels.  Many pools are out of action but they are already being checked, the normal mud and wood chips ahave been washed into the roads making driving conditions difficult in the area

I have seen rain in spain but this was like an obstacle course (I had just locked up and on my way to the airport). mains covers were lifted up by the sheer force of water - drainage couldn't cope....

Took me 20 minutes to get out the resort (usually 30 seconds) and then there was an accident at the junction (Corvera town/Golf entrance).

Just made it to the airpot. Back to the grind stone......

It is very difficult to explain to people how severe this storm was and I am waiting for the offiical stats for insurance reasons

I have now checked all of my properties and have found water ingress in a number of different types on properties, 10 in total have minor water ingress, 3 have intermediate 2 major which required bailing out last night

I am notifying the owners and have provided a list to Corvera however their official response is that, because of the volume of water that fell they will not, unless there was a defect recorded prior to the storm, make any repairs to the property and that the owners will have to make their own insurance claim

I am asking them for a written statement confirming this that I can then pass onto the owners

Having just returned from Corvera on Tuesday 14 June . The web site does NOT say that the Golf course is CLOSED, All the Corvera Golf Buggies have been taken away to RODA.  Staff have been sacked, or moved to RODA as usual . I stayed last week in my fully paid up & furnished  apartment & despite the Storm Damage ( all over the Course ) I saw no maintenance works in progress or machinery to repair or anybody trying to fix the Storm damaged caused generally on site ? 

As usual the RODA camp has stripped Corvera of all assets, machinery & staff , sold or moved or sacked by camp RODA ?

Calidona  say that They are all separate BUNCH of CORVERA & RODA companies, Over Which we have NO CONTROL ,  BUT yet still continue to Asset Strip without Informing COMPLETED  OWNERS or Non Completed  Owners. This is a breach of our contract for completed owners?  How are we able to Rent our Properties to Golfers if the GOLF COURSE IS CLOSED ?

REFINANCE POSSIBILITIES I was  told  that there are 7 Banks involved but all need to agree to REFUND Corvera & the new road link works to the Airport as agreed with the planning permission stage. The 7 Banks have NO TRUST IN EACH OTHER & so nothing will happen?

I was at Corvera 10 days ago and course was open - do you mean to say that practice range is closed?

If economic climate was "right" and all completions had taken place, these services would have been enhanced instead of closing them. However, you can count on my support........

Without Roda's greens' staff (which Calidona are most probably using at Corvera), there would be added pressure on Calidona.

Maintaining Golf Courses is a "fixed budget" item but costs (repairs to storm damage etc, is hopefully taken into equation) escallate when other supporting staff comes into this equation, unless there is regular and continuous flow of income........ I say this from personal experience (Chairman of a Private Golf Club) but sincerely hope that Im not teaching a granny to suck eggs...........
