Car Seats

Does anyone know up to what age you need to use child booster seats in Spain?

I believe it is 12, but I think there is also a 135cm height that needs to be reached before they can use adult seats.

Hi Shepster - and anyone else with toddlers/youmg kids.  I sometimes remind the forum about a product called a 'Bubblebum' car seat.  It is an inflatable (and fully certified) child's booster seat.  It costs around £23 but weighs next to nothing and simply rolls up or squashes flat for travelling.  Mine has paid for itself several times over in saved car hire co fees.

We use a trunki backpack for our 5yo son.  Its a backpack that doubles as a booster seat.  He wears it on the way over and then sits on it in the rental car.  It has space to carry his stuff so has been great.  It is slightly higher than the booster seats we have used/own which suits us fine, and it has the seatbelt adjuster which keeps the belt tight to the shoulder.

Items like it and the bubblegum seat are well worth the cost if its not just a one-off trip.

Thanks - great advice and will certainly look into as will get plenty of use out of them as children will need to use boosters seats for a while!   We were thinking of putting our current booster seats in the luggage but think we will soon reach our limit with clothes etc as being charged extortinate prices for luggage as it is!!!  

Like Arlene (ajw)  the Bubblebum has been a terrific buy for us and I  would certainly recommend it.

As SMV says it is 12 years old , but 150cm before they can use adult car seat.

We're over in a couple of weeks and have just ordered 2 Bubble Bum booster seats - £23 each from Kiddiecare.  Two booster seats we can use time and time again for the same cost as1 booster seat for 1 trip!
