The prices taray have given the owners is based on a sliding scale.

50-100 members get a 20% discount

101-150 30%

151-200 40%

201-250 50%.

So for a family of 5, thats works out as 432, 378, 324, 270 per year based on the discounted sliding scale. They will only accept this payment in full, and so far i dont know if we still have to pay the one off registration fee. Family price is for a maximum of 5 people, these are owners, parents, parents in laws, sons, daughters, son in laws, daughter in laws, and a 6th and 7th person can be added for 30 euro and 40 euro.

Hi Tom,

Thanks very much for the updated information.

Did Taray say how many members were signed up at the moment?

At last they have managed to recognise that In-Laws are part of the family, pity they have put a block on only 5 members as the majority of properties sleep 6. Presume this is still named people and not open.

At least it seems something is now starting to move

Dave

Hi All,

I dont know how many have signed up to this new deal. In fact i dont know how many owners have been informed by their presidents about the new prices. What i have been told by my president is that there will be no membership fee, and the same percentage discount fee will apply each year as long as it is paid up front. Taray have said that this is for first time owners only, and if we dont join this time, it may not be repeated next year to non members. I think it is now time that all owners make up their mind what they want to do. The presidents of each manzana should go around to each of their owners and get their opinion. If they are happy with the current prices, then so be it, but the more that sign up, the bigger the discount for the everybody.

                                                                                    Tom.

hi all,

just to confirm that they accepted 6 as our family as i have four kids.. this perhaps applies to children only but if you have 4 + kids dont worry they will accept that it is a larger family...

The following was receivered from our President/Vice President and we thougth it was a good idea to put it on here for all to see as it is now in all our interests to join up as soon as possible.

 To San Cayetano Owners

From Community Presidents/Vice Presidents

The majority of us have waited frustratingly for the promise of a leisure facility here on San Cayetano.  The investment into our properties included the building of what is now a superb addition to the urbanisation.

Whilst there is still ‘work in progress’ the Aquadel Center and its adjoining bar are now open.  To have the opportunity of a pool that can be used the whole year round is a huge bonus (unlike most urbanisations who only have 2 or 3 months of the summer and pay 3 or 4 times more in charges).

On its opening 35 residents and holiday home owners took up membership to the center, so a big round of applause to you.

Since then we have negotiated very strongly with Taray to have the initial costs dramatically reduced.  Having achieved that our e-mails out to the remaining owners have produced just 38 interested parties, and to those thank you for your commitment.

However on these numbers the facility cannot be maintained on a long term basis which will result in the area and possibly the bar, being closed down.

If the center is not supported and closure occurs, then the value of our properties will obviously go down and we will not attract further outward investment – at a time when the new airport at Corvera and the planned Paramount Theme Park is within our catchment area.

There are still some unanswered questions from Taray which we will actively pursue, but the costs we have secured from them could now see a couple paying the equivalent of just 21 Euros per month or just 6 Euros more for a family of 5!

If you’re interested and want more details then contact your Community President within 14 days of receipt of this e-mail/letter.

Sink or Swim.   The choice really is yours.  The outcome is in your hands!

Thank you, Mobailey for posting the message from your President/Vice President.  The problem at least some of us has is that we have received nothing from our P/VP on this subject , in fact we never hear from them on any subject!.  My other half and myself are not permanent residents in SC, and although we get over as often as we can so we are completely reliant on folk like yourselves keeping us in the picture.

Sorry, should have added  - can someone advise how many residents/holiday owners there are on the development so we can then at least work out what percentage discounts could be available. Personally, any final decision on becoming members would have to be decided once all the numbers are in and someone can confirm the final discount figure. Hope this makes sense!

Also, we have been told that our President doesn't use e-mail so would we be able to e-mail an alternative?

This is clearly an important issue for all of us so somehow or another we need to make sure that we are all being communicated to.

Pumpkin,  Like yourselves I have been advised of the correspondence and prices for the new leisure centre through a friend of mine who lives on Manzana 5.  No such communication from our President/Vice President!

We also live in the UK and only manage to spend 5 weks a year in San Cayetano.  Friends and family do use the property during the Spring and Summer months but, all in all, it is empty for six months of the year.  Would it not be a nice gesture for Taray to contact/speak to owners like ourselves and perhaps negotiate a price we should pay and also issue a "Pass" to cover our properties and not named family members?  To me family also incorporates my niece who will be coming out to San Cayetano with her family during middle of August - is this not a fair comment?

Like you I would welcome knowing how many permanent residents and holiday owners there are on the site.  Can someone supply me with this information?  I agree wholeheartedly that we need to protect this facility which we have waited so long for - but membership prices have to be discussed and decided upon in a more business-like fashion.  At the risk of being repetitive, my property was sold to me on the proviso that we would have a pool facility - I even chose my "plot" in line with where the pools were going to be.  We only anticipated pool facilities being available and certainly not the beautiful complex that has been built.  Comments would be welcome!

I think the "raw deal" referred to relates to the fact that even if we only visit 5 weeks of the year we are expected to pay the same membership as someone living in San Cayetano for 52 weeks of the year.  That is the way I read it anyway.  Membership is not transferable to family or friends staying at the property - only the owners and their families.  Little bit short-sighted I feel.

To pick up on what Pinot says, we are in the same position.  Whilst I believe the prices for permanent residents are good and absolutely understand why annual membership makes sense for them - for holiday homeowners who can unfortunately only come over a few times a year, annual membership is just not feasible.  If I understand the fees correctly, even If you take a maximum of 50% discount as an example, making membership for a couple €210p.a. we would each need to use the pool 21 times at the rate of €5 each swim to make economic sense.   Even if we did want to swim every day we're there, unfortunately, most of us just don't have enough days in S.C. to be able to do that.

The only way that might work for both holiday owners and Taray/Aquadel is if we could maybe pay for monthly, quarterly or half-yearly membership. Just a thought! As things stand at present personally, I'm afraid myself and my other half will have to stick to paying the daily rate whenever we want to swim!

Having read what people are saying about the cost of the swimming pool when you are only a holiday owner and not living here full time, please remember that all those who live on other urbanisations have to pay are their pools with in their community fees and they are a lot higher than we are paying and can be paying over a 1000 Euros a year and they can only use the pools for around 3 months a year as they are out door and unheated, but they have to pay the full amount whatever.    So really the costs of the pool here in San Cayetano is not that expensive, but please remember that if they do not get enough money in they will have to close it down as they still have to pay the running costs.  As the letter from the presidents said use it or lost it.

We have all been waiting a long time for this pool, so please look at it from the point of view that it is a cheap option compared with what the other urbanisations are paying for what they can only use for a few months of the year.  So the quicker we all join the cheaper it will become.

Take your point but ours is not a communal pool.  We bought on the understanding that this was going to be a community pool rather than a communal pool - and the cost of usage for owners as a pose to villagers or other interested parties would be minimal. That makes the difference here!

I have not received any contact from any presidents regarding pricing structure on the pool complex, so cannot be included in any form of response????  However, I would say that our purchase contract states that we will be provided with  a community pool'.  I believe properties built later do not have this phrase in their contracts.  We have sought legal advice on this contractual obligation and are taking adivce on pursuing it through the Spanish legal system.  Get your act together Taray and give us what we have paid for and waited so long for.

I have been following this thread for a while and I am sure I read somewhere, though maybe not here, that once the pool complex was up and running the Piscina Municipal would then close. Also that some purchasers were told before buying that use of the pool at  reduced rates would be part of the deal. Indeed some have that written into the contract though I gather  when that was mentioned at a meeting the Taray rep. walked out.

The problem seems to be 'value for money' of a season ticket for a non-resident purchaser who can only visit for a limited number of days per year, an owner of a rental property who cannot transfer the benefit to a tenant or a fulltime resident who has no wish to use the pool on a regular basis any more than they would do all the other' holiday type' activities - going to the beach, sight seeing, going to the theme park when it opens. They are living here full time, not on holiday though might make use of the pool when entertaining visitors as they might also take visitors to the beach or sightseeing.

A solution might be for those interested to be able to purchase a book of tickets at a discounted price like the multiple journey tickets sold by many public transport systems, with no use by date, and which could be used by any one with no limitation to family or address. This, surely, would suit the casual visitor, the full time resident and the renter and give Taray an indication of the level of full time interest and cash in hand. The present system seems set to deter all but the most enthusiastic user. A multi-ticket would encourage the casual user who might then go on to use the bar and restaurant.
