Has Non resident tax gone up

I was wondering if non resident tax has gone up this year. Last year my husband and I paid about 25euros each but this year we have paid almost 50 euros each. We have never rented out our property so nothing has changed since previous years. Can this be right I ask. Can anyone out there enlighten me?

 Haven't heard of any increase.  You should think youselves fortunate that you had only paid around 25 euros last year.  Perhaps this was your first year and you were only required to pay for a few months of that year?

how do they workout what non resident tax is due

You need to get the cadestral value of your property (you can get this from the Council office in the Al Kazar if you don't have a note of it) The calculation is then Cadestral Value x 24% x 1% and that gives you the amount and if there are 2 of you then you divided this amount by 2 and get the amount due by each person.
