The society golf committee met today with the managers of Global Golf to discuss how we can work together.
At the moment let's just say that It was a very productive meeting with our wins far outweighing the few losses we had. When I have the minutes from Cath I will post all the details on the website (www.cdagolf.com) .

Re Golf Membership.
Correct me if I am wrong but it would appear that the family membership has gone up by 185 euro. At a time when most courses are reducing fees, it would appear if you are a member it is costing you more. Maybe its time to think of looking elsewhere.

Hi Fred
Can't remember cost for families under Olagolf but it is 1520e per course with Global Golf plus 7e each time you play. Haven't got figures for Hacienda del Alamo but seem to remember it was dearer, but no fee involved for each round. Playing regularly I think it was cheaper.
But obviously cost of fuel to get there and back..
See you soon
Barry

Hi the way I read this is that the figure quoted by Barry for Annual 1 course Family membership was 1520€ this is 1600€ minus 5 = 1520€
1600€ was the cost last year so has not changed however we did get 10% Discount last year. and paid1440€
So Last year cost me 1440€ this year will cost 1520€ therefor 80€ more.
It could indeed be more cost effective to Join Hacienda with 2 players the 14€ cost to play Condado would cover Fuel and a drink at Hacienda.
Problem is I personnally do not want to play elsewhere when I have a great course on my doorstep.
Of course it would be impossible to put the case to Global Golf they have fixed the fees and thats it? I doubt they would listen to the fact Members may not renew and join another course the Spanish do not seem to grasp these things.
I also think that whilst the world is in a financial crisis less people will be able to afford to play over the next few years, and with Murcia having around 45 golf courses many will go under unless Murcia Golf Federation or someone reviews pricing?
Whilst I am here I also think it highly unfair that outsiders can get better rates to play the course than Residents. Many owners bought on a Golf course to play Golf whilst in reality you can get bnetter deals by owning anywhere.
Unfortunately we live in Spain and therefor have to enjoy the sunshine and bite our lips?
I thank the Condado Golf Society for all their work and negoitiating for the Society and Golf in general.
However as for Annual members we have gained nothing with the arrival of Global Golf. ?
Whinge over

I note that in the information posted by barney111 for cdagolf.com there's this statement :-
"It was stated that the banks (IRM) have plans prepared for a permanent clubhouse, but there is no timescale on that so don’t expect it yet!"
Does this mean there will be no temporary club house, as is rumoured on this forum and on others (Glass Sales office, or building site sales portakabin, or Log Cabin from another resort) and that we are just waiting for the parmanent one to materialise some distant time in the future?

They states that plans for a permenant club house have been drawn up but there are no timescales as to when it would be built, given the current climate I personnaly wouldn't expect it fow a few years, even then only when Paramount is up and running.
On the temporary club house front they said they knew of no plans to built a temporary one, they had heard the rumours but could not confirm them. I should be remembered that they have only been in place for a week, so perhaps they arn't aware of all of IRM plans yet? In reality no one know for sure, we will just have to wait and we if any confirmed statements are made.

Thank you for the update Phil. I had thought any permanent clib house would wait the arrival of the Paramount Park- which also means that if that doesnt go ahead we'll be waiting a long, long time. I would have thought that the placing of a temporary clubhose might have come up in negotiations with Global Golf as it's a positive thing for them when taking all of this over. However, I get your point and maybe its less important to those involved in these sorts of arrangements than it is to us on the resort.
Fingers crossed then that the rumours are based on fact and we dont have too long to wait to find out. I genuinely feel even a temporary club house of wwhatever structure is better than nothing- especially since the Clover closed completely as visiting golfers may not know the layout of CdA and may not take any advantage of the Condado Club.

Out here you will get various versions of the truth depending on who you ask. Six months ago Olagolf told us we would definately be getting a temp club house by Oct, in Oct they said by Dec. Then we were told the old show room would be moving. George was told the one from Hacienda was coming here, now we are told its not. I'm sure everyone passes on what they are told in good faith, but the way it all keeps changing doesn't help. I believe they ( Polaris, Olagolf etc ) just tell us what they think we want to hear irrespective of wherever it's true and confirmed or not.
The only time we will actually know what is really happening is when the diggers move in and it starts getting built, until then there are sure to be several other rumours that will come to nothing. Just sit back hum gently to yourselves and sigh "mañana"

Hi Phil,
On double checking my records I must apologize about my figures. You are dead right with the 1600 euro.
As Mick has already said and we all know from passed experiance talking to the Spanish is a waste of time trying to get anything sorted or get information.
All the committee work very hard on behalf of the society and Bernie and myself are back next week and we are always available to do anything we can.

Based on all the non-info when completing in 2008 i deduced the Spanish flower everything up to make it seem like you're getting something fantastic (just look how they over describe everything) when you're a) getting something standard or b) getting something that shuts you up for a few weeks .......... manana indeed. Whilst my glass remains pretty full and i'm grateful for everything that is being negotiated for i believe stuff in Spain only when i've seen it and used it successfully.

The very good news is that the banks have released the funds for a permanent club house.
A temporary glass club house with a veranda will be coming shortly and then the work will start on the main one.
I cant give a time frame but the owners know the importance, and please dont shoot the messenger.

Wowzers! Is it still planned to be inbetween the penthouses? If the banks are releasing funds does that mean that plans have already been drawn up? No doubt it will be a while before anything materialises but curious nonetheless.

It will be where it should be, on the land overlooking the 9th and 18th greens. They will build the permanent clubhouse alongside the temporary one so their will be a continous clubhouse without closure. The pro shop will move there as well. There were some high ranking dignatories at the course on saturday morning. The hi5 tour said they will not come back until there is a clubhouse. Last time they played they ended up eating sandwiches outside the supermarket as the clover didnt open till 4 pm and although they were very impressed with the course they were extremely disappointed with the facilities. To be a championship course we need the professional tour and the management know this but were waiting for the amalgamation before proceedings commenced.

Thats great news....although I'll be happy to see something by summer 2013 and won't be expecting a rush of activity.
If the clubhouse is positioned so you get proper views over the 9/18th greens it will be an impressive view to take in after a round of golf....don't think many clubs would match it.
