Buying on Condado de Alhama

Hello Folks

My wife and I are visiting Spain in early March in the hope of buying a holiday home (not an investment property). The pictures etc. that we have viewed of Condado look very attractive as do the current prices. I do have a couple of questions and I hope that you don't mind helping me with answers.

Here goes:

Are there any supermarkets open on the development. If so are they well stocked so that if visiting without the use of a car we could buy all essentials?

How many bars/restaurants are open on the development?

Are there any banks on the development?

How far is the nearest (reasonably sized) town or village and is there a taxi service available.

My wife will probably visit on her own with our youngest child (10), what is security like on the development.

Yes there is a reasonably big and well stocked supermarket on the resort. A wee bit dearer than supermakets in the nearby towns but not too bad. There is a very good large supermarket (Consum) about a 10 minute drive away in Campasol.

How many bars/restaurants are open on the development?

Restaurant is currently closed with no visibility if/when it will open again. The Clover pub is also currently closed but is due to re-open again soon I believe. Then there is the Condado Club by the tennis courts that sell light snacks, tapas and of course drinks.

Are there any banks on the development?

No.

How far is the nearest (reasonably sized) town or village and is there a taxi service available.

Alhama de Murcia and (Puerto de) Mazarron are both about 15 minutes drive away in opposite directions. Camposol is about 10 minutes away in the direction of Mazarron. There was a taxi service based on the resort, but not sure if it's still going.

My wife will probably visit on her own with our youngest child (10), what is security like on the development.

There is a security controlled gated entrance so it's generally pretty safe I'd say.

Hi David,

The links on my website to yours weren't working any more, they were linked to http://condadoexcursions.com/contactus.aspx . Did you parhaps change the page names? That's why I wasn't sure if you were still going, glad to see you're still here! 

Anyway, I've updated the links to http://www.condadoexcursions.com/Pages/default.aspx (there's one on the 'contact info and directions' page and one on the 'links page', see my signature) and it seems to be working again but if someone else has old links to your website they may have the same problem.

Although not much on site at the moment the supermarket does have most things at a slightly higher price.

There are also many of the takeaways and restuarants at Campasol that deliver to CdA and at least one restaurant does a pickup and return to CdA.

In summer they did do a bus to Alhama on market day but not sure if that was temporary during busy months only.

While a car is preferable I think you can do without.  Big thing is always weighing up transfers to and from the airports as they can be pricey...bring on Corvera and that should change.

If your 10yo likes swimming and its warm enough you'll spend most of your trip going to and from your jardine pool.
