Golf Discount

I am sure this has been covered somewhere before but cannot find the thread. Can anyone update me on the situation regarding 'Golf Discounts' for owners and their guests? Does anyone have an updated price list for this years Golf Fees?

I have booked tee times early May.  With the owner discount It is costing me and my playing guests €42 per round plus €3 for insurance.  Also €25 per buggy.

The current general public 18 hole golf green fee at Roda seems to be 53euros or 30 euros after 3.00pm see http://www.rodagolfcourse.com/

remember you are also supposed to pay 3 euros per round Spanish Federation Fee which covers your insurance in Spain or 70 odd per year

As an owner I believe you are entitled to a 30% discount for yourselves and guests playing with you BUT no longer for guests using your apartment, apparently Roda recently withdrew this entitlement with little notice.

I think they were trying to make those of us who paid a large investment to purchase Golf Rights feel better off.

However, what Roda do do is offer green fees to various agents at a lower rates, so if you have friends using the apartment check out green fees here first. It seems Roda would prefer to pay agents rather than encourage owners guests.  You can also get good rates at surrounding courses, which may interest some.

Repairing Pitch Marks on Greens

This is not just another article by someone ‘banging on’ about repairing pitch marks on greens for the sake of it the facts are that other than extreme weather conditions the biggest single cause of a poor putting surface are the golfers themselves with stud marks and pitch marks. Now every golfer that I know is an amateur green keeper who knows better than the green keeper themselves in respect of preparation of a golf course and the greens in particular and then play a big part in ‘tearing apart’ the good work by the greens staff. The facts are plain and simple, if a pitch mark is not repaired within 24 hours it take weeks to recover rather than days and a badly repaired pitch mark takes twice as long to recover than a properly repaired one. To repair a pitch mark correctly, push the edge of the ball mark toward the center, using your ball mark repair tool in a ‘gentle twisting motion.’

So Remember;
Wrong – Using the prongs as levers to push up the bottom of the depression
Right – Using the prongs to push grass at the edge of the depression towards the centre.

Roda is in good condition at the moment.I can confirm greens and fairways are perfect as I played it a few days ago.

Course looks like it needs water however this is not the the case, it is only the time of year and it will be green again soon.

On the isue of green fees MurciaGolf.co  (yes .co) have good deals, a very informative site and are very helpful.

The 30% owners discount is really nothing of the sort as, has been mentioned, cheaper rates than "rack" rates are available from several sources.

The clubhouse discount has also been abandoned, mine was refused twice last week for the 1st time - the 2nd time the waiter told me it had been finished. Nice of them to let us know! Just have to go to Cambells or Time Out more often for cheaper drinks & food (& better service).

To me its the principle of the promised discount that is the most annoying, so for the sake of 10% they are going to lose 80% of my business, typical short term mentality.

How long before the "illusionary" 30% golf discount is curtailed?

Sorry to go on about this but Im  still not sure if  owners get discount off twylight prices.

Im only asking this because on a recent visit we played three times and paid a different price each time.

Yes I should have said something but not having anything in writing I just find it easier to walk away muttering to myself !

Also be sure to ask for your voucher to claim your free beer in the clubhouse. Its not automatic if you dont ask you dont get !

It turns out that the free beer is a BOGOF. 

Has anyone got up to date prices in writing including discounts for owners that we can refer to ?

Hi Hugh_man - previously with our discount card, we and our guests could benefit from a 20% discount on green fees (just ordinary non-golf rights owners) .  Roda seems to be a very popular course but by doing some research, green fee prices seem to vary greatly depending on where and with whom you book.   However,  I can thoroughly recommend costa-blanca-greenfees.com -  I have used them for lots of my clients and service is second to none - we have just booked at  about 43 euro per person per round including a buggy  for June.      If anyone wants information about their services then I would be happy to pass on contact details.   Just pm me.

I am pretty sure Owners themselves get 30% discount and their renters were originally offered 20% off but this privilidge was removed by Roda.

For info if you book online at www.rodagolfcourse.com you will note the price is 43 euros pp or 30 after 3.00 pm and I believe they are currently offering a twilight deal inc a buggy and a beer, as you say rates do change regularly but Owners themselves should be able to get 30% discount off advertised rates.

I believe all visitors will also have to pay 3 euros pp for temporary Spanish Federation Licence which covers your insurance for the day.

I agree though it is worth checking all the agencies who book blocks of greenfees for deals from time to time especially if visitors are interested in playing other courses

Thanks for your input and advice - always appreciated.    I thought we had got a relatively good deal via my booking service - it was just easier to use them as I booked at several golf courses for my clients  - so it saved me a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and it just means I know all is sorted for me.  I knew the twilight deals are considerably cheaper as well but thanks for this.

The last time I enquired a couple of months ago I was told that owners still get 30% (as do their guests playing with them). Our renters no longer get any any discount.

However, discount is is only applicable the STANDARD rates - it is not applied to rates already discounted by Roda (ie no discount on the twiloght deal).
