Hi All,
I thought those of you not living on Hacienda del Alamo permanently might be interested to hear what is happening in the Spanish village.
I have recently met the chap who is in the process of refurbishing one of the units on the main square which is going to become a Sports bar and sports shop, he is also hoping to run a cycle hire business from there.
His friend is in the process of opening a supermarket also in the Spanish village and work has started on a pharmacy.
There is also mention of an Argentinian Steak house opening shortly. (to be confirmed)
I haven't as yet got any definate dates for these developments although the sports bar is aiming to be open for the European Championships in June.
I'm sure we can all agree that the more businesses that become established within the Spanish village the more attractive the resort as a whole will become. I will try to keep people posted as to how the developments progress, but for now would like to wish these new enterprises every success for the future.
Pictures of the work in process will be available on my facebook page search for murciavillashda on facebook

Thanks for keeping us posted. We have all been waiting for this.
Perhaps they are all preparing in advance for the Paramount opening and the new airport.
Please keep us up to date.

Hi Ricky09 & Nuckles
Undoubtedly Paramount Theme Park and the Airport at Corvera will give tourism and Hacienda del Alamo a big boost.
These are 2 Major projects I will be following with keen interest on my facebook page and website murciavillashda.
The first payment of €10.3 Million has been paid at the notary this week for the land for Paramount at Alahama which is a major step forward for this project and a video is available to watch on our facebook page.
Murcia Villas has strong links with the Board at Corvera Airport and has arranged a site visit later this month to view the Airport and take photo's so that everyone can see the progress which has been made, again I will post information here and on facebook along with the website.
We already manage rentals for professional staff working at the airport right upto board level and will of course be promoting the services and facilities that Hacienda del Alamo has to offer for Staff and tourists alike.
All in all this could well be the turning point I know many of you have been waiting for.
Tom (Murciavillashda)

Hi
This thread has gone very quiet !- no evidence of any work on Murcia Villas Facebook page as promised. Hope this doesn't turn out to be another false dawn.
Does anybody have up-to-date news on progress?
Best regards

Hi,
When we were over 2 weeks ago work was in progress at a large unit on the corner of the plaza with a van outside with a sign on Kennilys Pub and another large unit had work going on.A jewellers is already open and of course Home Kare.
A hairdressers might do well.

Thanks for the update - does sound promising. We are over in the next couple of weeks, and I was hoping that there might be some new facilities ready. I agree a hairdresser/beauty salon could do well (especially while the hotel remains closed).
Having said that however I'm sure we'll have a great time as usual - The Spaniard Inn and Clubhouse are great, and it will just be nice to see some sunshine!!

Hi Shandy,
Unfortunately due to delays in getting access to start the work there hasn't been much to report, however I have now posted some pictures of the work in progress on the facebook site at http://www.facebook.com/Murciavillashda (taken today 23/05/12)
Sounds like you'll be over here soon to see for yourself but have a look at the pictures anyway if nothing else it shows things are moving in the right direction.
There are facilities within the hotel Spa for hairdressers and nail bars etc so a bit of a gamble for anyone to open those businesses in the Spanish Village once the hotel opens, but you never know!!

Hi Elerado.
The "Spanish Village" is a commercial center on Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort near Fuente Alamo Murcia. It is so called because although purpose built it was designed around the concept of a typical Spanish Village with narrow streets and Plazas with fountains.
So not the "Real Spain" you are seeking but if you drive inland away from the coast you will find plenty of real Spanish Towns and Villages, Fuente Alamo is one of them but there are hundreds more, Just bear in mind that the "Real Spain" you are looking for doesn't necessarily look like the postcard images you send home. (the real Spanish live in normal towns like we do).
But do feel free to visit I'm sure the businesses will make you more than welcome.
I have posted some updated pictures to the facebook site here "Pueblo Espanol"

The Spanish Village is a beautiful purpose built village situated behind the clubhouse and alongside the hotel containing 47 shops and bars and apartments and a plaza with flowers and fountains and old fashioned lamposts like you find in Venice. It has wonderful views of our 18 hole championship golf course. The longest in Spain.
The shops have just started to open and a lot more apartments are occupied.
The actual town of Fuente Alamo is at the bottom of the road that leads to the Resort and is full of shops, bars, banks etc.
If you are nearby you should come in and take a look.
