I think the clubhouse looks great (all be it from afar) and will serve its purpose for many years I would suggest. I also believe we are fortunate that someone is investing at this time of such uncertainty, especially in Spain right now. I cannot see what’s wrong with it, a contemporary glass clubhouse. Very much looking forward to seeing it next week and using it in the very near future.
Are airports anything more than glasshouses? I build them and currently in Saudi Arabia where they also have them, very functional where temperatures far exceed Spain's.
You can’t please all the people all the time, however, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

You can't call it a green house far from it. You also can't give a real view on it until you see the complete package inside and out. It is certainly looking better than I thought it would and must be still costing them a fortune with all the landscaping etc

I agree it will most likely be the prettiest Green House I've seen, I certainly can give a view prior to viewing. It will not be fit for purpose on such fantastic course and resort. It will not meet the demands of such a course, it will be a poor substitute and is a poor effort to placate the residents who were promised so much. I am also certain that there are some wonderful examples of airport buildings spotted all over the planet, purpose built taking in to account the main fuction of an airport and the evironment in which it is to be constructed and possibly constructed mainly in glass. I am however willing to bet that when the architects for these airports were given their remit none of them said, "Hold on I know the very chap, he has an old Green House at the bottom of his garden, it's the very job." Will it be fit for purpose? no. Will it accommodate large parties, don't be daft have you seen the size of it? Will it have the facilities expected of such a building? Are you having a laugh. It will not meet any of this criteria, but we'll paint it, through a bit of shrubbery around it, stick a shower or two in it, a couple of lockers and bingo we've saved a fortune and kept the natives happy. We wont have to build a real Club House for years, if ever!
My point is, apply a bit of forward thinking, build a more suitable offering with extension in mind. This will encourage further investment from tournament organisers, new residents and commercial outlets allowing the banks to recoup some of their misplaced cash and withdraw completely. Speculate to accumulate. Simples!

Hi folks,
I'm with the half-full brigade on the temp club house issue.
I think it looks fine and should fulfil its basic purpose well.....................as long as it's staffed and administered properly.
In my humble opinion it has to be a step forward for CdA. Whether it's a "cop out" or (speculative) positive investment by the banks. Please tell me that intelligent, rational owners, that want this developement to succeed don't really believe that the Spanish banks (which are currently in utter turmoil) should either have built a twenty million euro, purpose-built club house, or left us with nothing at all?
Seriously, is that an argument even worth having?
If it is, then why bother with the sports area on CdA if we aren't going to have the fantastic running track/health spa/international training camp we were going to have? Why bother investing in bars/restaurants/ice cream shops in Al Kazar if 'The Oasis' town centre is not going to be built?.................................in fact why bother even watering the grass on the golf course if we aren't going to have the other two golf courses built?
Come on guys, I'm not picking fights with anyone one here and its my politically correct duty to say that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but is the negativity really going to encourage the future developement and further investment in our beloved CdA?
Or maybe I'm just a little fish that's just taken the bait of someone that's been out 'fishing' ;)

" it will be a poor substitute and is a poor effort to placate the residents who were promised so much"
When you buy off plan the only thing you are really promised is what you are contracted to, in our case an apartment. The rest is always open to change etc. noted on all PW documentation, it was not promised and not legallt binding. That said, without the finacial crash we would have got what was offered.
My glass is always half full and am very pleased with all that's happened and happening on CdA.

Once again I agree! When purchasing off plan everything is open to change however, there is a great difference between change and total omission. I also think that you'll find that the Spanish courts have already ruled that all the associated diatribe which Polaris included in its sales literiture forms part of your legally binding contract, although subject to change it should not be totally omitted. I'm sure we are all within our rights to pursue Polaris through the courts for misselling, but what's the point they are pink lint. Never have I suggested that the banks should put up 20 Million Euro's, that's just not feasible. But they could be a little more forward thinking and proactive. As for whether the argument is worth having, I'm not looking for an argument just being forthright with my opinion. I am happy to hear and take on board my fellow campers opinions. I must say tho' not watering the grass on the golf course is a bit extreme and hardly lends weight to any argument.

Hi again del007,
I am very surprised if you believe that posting such a negative opinion on an open forum such as this one will not draw suitably equal and opposite counter-comments and if I really need to spell it out to you, I used the "not watering the grass on the golf course" example to highlight a point.
I shall not be getting involved with your "we're all doomed" opinion in this thread again.

I fully accept and would be disappointed if counter opinion was not expressed on such a forum, which is the right of every individual. I was merely pointing out that although I accepted the earlier counter view I thought that the not watering the grass metaphor was a little extreme, just as the reference to "we're all doomed" is a bit over the top. I am simply pointing out that in my opinion the banks could have shown a bit of initiative and gone the extra mile, I wasn't proclaiming the end of civilisation as we know it.

your problem my friend is that you don't appreciate that the banks have already went the extra mile. They are not in this for the long term and we are lucky that they have decided to press on and give us a clubhouse. We are all disapointed in the fact the PW did not deliver what was promised but that has passed. You are correct it can't accomodate large parties but it will certainly attract more golfers than it currently does.

Reading your comments are really boring, and your grammar is equally boring, this thread all started from someone trying to simply inform the residents of the progress and development of the Club House and you have just turned the thread into one big bore.
I would suggest that your read the FT tomorrow and note what the Global economy is doing and from this you dont have to be Sherlock to see why they wont and cant afford to build a new Club House.

I don't know why you suggest I should read the FT. It's obvious you haven't read or fail to understand my point. Never at any stage have I suggested the building of a all singing and dancing Club House. My grammar may be boring in your opinion, fine. It's difficult for me to take on board your comments when you simply cannot grap the basis of my point. Anyway off you go and build a nice castle in the fairy tale land in which you live.
