True, but seriously the last thing we need is cats and dogs roaming the streets of CDA like a lot of other urbanisations. Leave pets in the UK the spanish climate and environment is not suitable for them. Jon Faulkner

Got to be careful - La Torre has a serious problem with feral cats that's costing their community money to sort out

A horrible thing to say or an irresponsible thing to do....I'm waiting for the next post about end of Mejazi10's holiday and desperate need to house 5 kittens before leaving ;)
Anyway there's no water in the golf course lakes so that ends that route....

I love animals but to breed a lot of cats in the Condado is not good.
Neither for us or the cats, many may simply want the cat during the holidays and then they get a wild cat
I do not want it to be cat poo on playgrounds and gardens
Will there be too many cats you have to take action and then it is better that you do it when they're kittens

While I have no problem with pets in general I think there is an issue where pets are basically dumped after a holiday.

But if someone is a resident and is responsible I don't see it as a problem....and responsible includes not letting them sh*t all over the place.

Good

Then I can take a male and a female, so they can have kittens and hope that someone would take care of them and so on

At least cats keep the rodent population at bay! I love cats and dogs but -like everyone else, don't want to see the resort overrun with them. Unfortunately cats cannot be followed around with a pooper scooper and, yes, they may well poo in sandboxes. More likely to find a quiet corner and bury their mess though. Dogs just take a dump wherever they fancy and it's this mess which really gets me if owners don't pick it up. I guess it all comes down to responsible ownership. Perhaps the administrators can insist on all pets having owners details on collars or they will be taken to the pound?

I live on the top of a hill and we are surrounded with fields, I used to have problems with fieldmice and rats.... then they opened a cattery at the bottom of the hill at the back, run by charitable donations and everyone takes stray cats, unwanted kittens etc there and they try to find them homes. In the meantime, they let some of them out at night time and hey presto, no more rodent problem. I am a dog lover, but cats are brilliant, they are natural hunters and will keep the vermin in check. Best thing that could happen to us is a small population of controlled cats doing what they do best. Oh and by the way, unlike dogs, you never hear of a pet cat attacking humans even though they are vicious predators.

I agree with Arlene and Dakey.

Matryd's 'put them the sleep' comment were unnecessary IMO, I suspected (s)he is just 'trolling' for a reaction.

Maybe neutering them would a more humane and compassionate option rather than 'putting them to sleep'. I've never seen a cat problem on the resort, the ones I have seen are obviously well cared for by responsible owners, so as long as the new owners of these kittens are equally responsible then I don't see what the problem is.

We  have already taken in 3 males and had them nuetered and chipped ( over 100 euros at time. Female cat that has had 2 litters for us to know of has now been neutered  165 to neuter a female .  Thanks to Anna for her help in paying towards this. We have had 4 of her last litter adopted - 2 died and we have  kept another so now 4 male cats . He will get chopped when time  . There are 3 kittens roaming around from another litter Last seen J10 . Could be female so they could be an issue.

There is a charity in Port mamas that you can apply to for help but they are so cash strapped if you can avoid using them the more they have for other cases.   No cat protection societys and private groupd are over streched . If you call authorities then I believe cats will just be killed.  However since cats have been around I have not seen mice that sometimes get into apartment. I would rather a cat around than  be overun with mice.

Carol doing her bit  taking in Cats  but neither of us can cope with any more . We are both convinced that if Ginger Tom was taken away then problem would be less . Carol calls him Romeo.

Phill,

nice video, but a one off. to put it in perspective with dog attacks google 'devil dog kills blind max' to see an article in our local paper about a rotweiller that killed our pet dog and read some of the comments about peoples experiences of dog attacks at the end of the article. Dog attacks on both other dogs and people is a massive problem and a one off 'cat attack' video to try and just make some sort of point is a bit of a poor show really.
