BFR, spot on mate. The only way is a ban. This talk of spot fines, dog wardens, additional charges etc is futile and fudges the issue. The problem won't go away until the cause is removed.

Hi, Last year I saw many incidents regarding dogs. My neighbour ( Spanish) would let her dog off he lead so it could wee up a tree in the pool area or on my or someone else's garden. They would also let the dog into the pool area. It all became too much when I saw them try to get the dog into the pool. I had a polite but firm "word" with them and they stopped straight away and was very apologetic. The moral of this is that we are the first line of defence for our area, we should be able to politely ask someone not to break the rules, we only need security etc when this goes wrong in any way. Most when challenged will stop. Although I did say to my wife I felt like a policeman at times when people wanted to try and take the dogs into the pool or pool area.

Well Neil, I guess in your case everything turned out rosie. BUT not everyone reacts in the same way when challenged over their, their kids, or their animal's behaviour on the resort.
When I had a guest staying at my apartment, she saw some behaviour that was unacceptable to the point of being stupidity and when she politely approached the drunken mother of the child in question she was told to "f*ck off back to sheep **agger land and mind your own f*cking business". The mother then watched her go back to my appartment and obviously told her equally drunk and violent husband, who proceded to walk over to my appartment, bang on the door and threaten my guest physically saying "if she stuck her f*cking nose anywhere near his family again, she would be f*cking sorry".
So a word to the wise my friend, be very carefull what advice you give please.

Hi, point taken but I probably would not have tackled when drunk, although it is a great shame that we have assh**es like those in the world. I would still have reported them to our ineffectual security. I still feel we should not turn a blind eye to wrong doing, I have suggested a register of complaints and a review of these to see if any one apartment has a recurring problem then perhaps the ecu could tackle them? I am sorry that you and your guest had to face that, it makes me so mad! Neil

To the poster who said I need to get a grip, you may be right but-I think you'll find that I was commenting on the fact that some people have so much to drink they are not able to safely watch their children by the pools and that an apparently drunken woman was screetching at a security guards who asked her to remove her loungers from the grass in the public area in front of her apartment. I have no objection to someone taking a beaker of beer or, whatever to the pool and also don't know why we can't use our loungers on the grassy areas'- my comments related to the result of too much alcohol and why that might be a factor in children pooping in our swimming pools or other unnecessary behaviour. I dont think spot fines would work and who would police that? But I do think if the culprit can be found then the family should pay the cost of sanitising the pool- otherwise you, me and every other owner is paying for that. But, you are entitled to your opinion on that, as you wil find that I am entitled to my opinion on the various issues these threads throw up.
I have no idea how to resolve the issue of dogs poop as there are signs about and ML periodically informs people to keep dogs on leashes and clear up after them. Unless we had Security more visible and speaking to the offenders I'm not sure what more can be done and is it Security's job to do that anyway? I find that there are a number of things in the 'rules' of owning an apartment on CdA that have not been enforced by ML so doubt they have the teeth to do a great deal about this- which is a pity.
Despite this problem and that of the pooping in the pools I have just had a great visit to CdA and the new ventures have really improved the resort- as other new venues are mooted to be opening soo at Al Kasar and the Club House is excellent I think the resort can only go from strength to strength.

Let's not make a simple straight forward task complicated. Ban pets or make owners pay a fee for a licence. We are in Spain and they love bureaucracy. On the subject of our security. It never ceases to strike me when I visit what a cushy job the security people seem to have. I am grateful that we have what appears to be a professional and well run company keeping us safe, but I do think they could be tasked or directed more whilst out on patrol to deal with people who are clearly breaching community rules. Vehicle patrol is fine but foot patrol in high foot fall areas would be better. We will be paying a lot for our security, I think it is entirely reasonable that they tackle the pet poo problem more effectively. I was thinking the other day that it has been a good job Polaris went bust and could not finish the 10000 properties on the original plan for CDA or we would be knee deep in animal excrement and drunken people fighting all over the place. I live in a pleasant village in the UK and its a wonderful place to walk dogs! Consequently there is a dog crap problem! I have told off people for not picking up dog pooh myself! Where there are dogs, there are often irresponsible and ignorant owners!
I also have a dog, and my beloved tiny pooch will be brought out to CdA at some point for long term visits. Needless to say I clean up after her but other dog owners that leave the poop behind means that I have to watch my dog carefully (she rolls in it, eats it, you name it.... argggh)
I would be in a favor of a 'resident license' for dogs on the resort and use the funding for clearing up!
