Door lock

hi

I can remember a thread about how to change the door lock so that you cannot lock yourself out.but now cannot find it.

Does anyone have the details of how to do this or a link to the original post

We have a key safe that we use and leave a spare key in that when we are out there and take it back in when we come home. That has always worked well. My friend has chaging her lock around so inside to outside and that has worked for her.

Its not a new barrel you need. I think we have ,as standard, a split spindle so the handle only works from the inside so,as "underhand"s friend has done, if you change the spindles then the handle will work from the outside.

Alternatively get a new spindle that will go through from one handle to the other then both handles will work

A thing to be careful of is the spindle size as what may seem the correct size might be a fraction bigger/smaller.
