I know I'm not the only one to be subject to what I can only describe as a scam, by the Spanish Tax authorities. It goes like this....
I purchased my apartment in Duquesa Village, in March 2012... For the sum of 125.000€. All legal, and above board, and I paid the Tax that my solicitor advised me i had to pay. Today I got an email from him saying that the Tax Authorities have re-valued my apartment, and in their opinion, it's worth 254.000€!!! Probably the 2006 value.
So, they are asking me to pay an extra 9300€ in tax.....it seems, according to my solicitor, that the Tax Authorities are trying to obtain money by any means possible...Spain is somewhat financially embarrassed at the moment.
If the dimwit who valued my property at the above sum would like to purchase it ....at that sum, I would be so happy to remove 254.000€ from his, or her bank account...but we all know that he..ot she, in reality would never be so stupid.
What I now have to do is employ a solicitor to fight the case, pleading that my property is not worth the sum the Tax Authorities say it is...oh..at my cost of course..it would appear to me that solicitors are going to make a lot of money over this...wonder if they are part of the scam???
