Good news,

Hire companies are finally listening to their customers at last. I have had an e-mail from Do-you-Spain.com who we use quite regularly, and they now have a filter function on the booking process where you can select full/full. OK, the daily hire rate will probably be slightly higher, but at least you know what you are paying at the onset and not going to be stung with whatever fill-up charge they decide to impose on you then reluctantly have to return some of that over-inflated fuel back to them at the end of your trip.

Regards,

Wow, this is good news.

I was getting really annoyed about the car hire fuel scam.

The worst case I'd heard of was one owner posting on here to say they had been charged 90 euros by a well known hire car company to fill up a fuel tank which could only hold 45 litres.................and the tank was quarter full when they took it back.

Really pleased they are listening to their customers.

ww

its just like ryanair - a regular user knows what is in store

look at the hertz/europcar/avis prices  still add estimated cost of fuel when filling up.

compare with the likes of goldcar etc, add the inlfated fuel price and hen compare what looks best to you.

Bear in mind herz avis etc are scrutenising cars for scratches etc, whilst the likes of goldcar record etc don't give a monkeys.

If  3 days or less - a no brainer stick with the cheaper car rentals as you get option of full full or money refund on what is left in tank , 4-5 days  ok work out the maths as you probably wont use much fuel as you will loose out

a week or 2 weeks again the cheaper full - empty are probably still cheaper  regardless the intial rip off on fuel

like i said make a educated guess
