van hire?

We have recently purchased a penthouse.: )))))))!!!!!  We are doing the Ikea run at the end of next week, and before we book a van, we are wondering if anyone knows a hassle free reliable company they could recommend. One of our party is an experienced van driver.

I have just returned from hiring a van in Murcia at the weekend to do exactly that, ie drive to Ikea Murcia and back from Condado.

However I hired direct from Furgonetas Demetrio as if its Ikea Murcia you are going to you can no longer simply hire a van yourself but have to pay anything from 10% to 20% of the total cost of your order, which depending on how much you are spending can work out very expensive. Driving on a UK licence allows you to drive an 8 cubic meter Ford Transit and its quite easy really - imagine being 'White Van Man' for a day. Forgonetas are about a 10 minute drive from Ikea.

On a final note I have to say Ikea was a complete NIGHTMARE, 5 hours later I was ready to kill my wife or hang myself, obviously with preference to option 1, but then again, I would want to do the same in Ikea here in London!!!!!

Thanks very much for the info. we are not exactly looking forward to the ikea trip- but needs must. We did spend a fruitless 10 days trying to do a distance shopping order, but it was going to take too long for them to pick our goods for us. 

wish us luck, (We have survived Ikea Gateshead on a Sunday before- so are quite hardy)

Basically costs worked out at approx £60 for a 24 hour days hire which included my petrol so not bad I thought.
