Hi
I have no affiliation to any company & we have tried “the sheet thing” but unless the quality & strength of the material has improved greatly or you are prepared to take it down & put it up again on a regular basis we know from past experience that though greatly more expensive initially the retractable ones are by far the best
We were on Condado in March & again early April & as I walked through the gardens I saw many that were torn to shreds. Some I think had been put up between our two breaks & as the winds were very strong in April those two were in a terrible state.

Ikea do the shade - we bought 2 five years ago & still using first one.

You do need to take them each time but it only takes 2 mins to put & take down.

Try Bradshaws direct, they have a square and triangular sail shade that fits in cabin luggage.

You can get all the fittings required from the chinise shop on Camposol.

Ikea is half the price of Bradshaws!  You can either buy in UK and bring in cabin luggage or buy in Ikea Murcia.

Hi, the sails that Bradshaws and sails for less have are made of a completley different material then the ones from Ikea.

Hence the price difference.

Hi all
So do the sails in ikea England fit the 3 bed pergolas or do I have to buy in Murcia? A friend of mine wants one and also wondered if anyone knows the correct measurements to purchase in England and take over.
Thanks in advance

Shirley

We got the rectangular one for our 2 bed upstairs apartment which is perfect.

Maybe someone else knows if the downstairs pergola area is same size?

As I said in previous post - we are still using the first one we bought 5 years ago & it is still ok & this probably because we take it down after each visit ( 5 times a year).

Our UK IKEA rectangle sail for the 2 bed pergola has lasted since 2008 but only with adaptions -we don't use the string rigging they supplied and have put in new 'holes' supported by brass rings and use short elesticated hooks (bungee straps) to provide flexibility. It provides shade but whether it filters the sun I'm not sure. We dont leave it up permanently as it wouldn't survive and when over take it down if there are strong winds. However its the best £12.00 I have ever spent especially as it was 'buy 1 get 1 free' at the time- so we have a spare!! These particular one's  are too small for the 3 bed pergola's but 2 could be overlapped with a bit a juggling..

IKEA used to do triangular sails and I have seen two of these used on a downstairs pergola.

Search for Dyning Canopy on Ikea website. The triangular one is 415cms by 360 cms & they are over 95% uv protected.

This thread has been useful as I searched out the Dyning canopy on the Ikea website and for our rectangle canopy found:-

"The fabric is water repellent and provides very good UV protection (95.9 - 97.4% of UV is blocked).

- Machine washable; easy to keep clean." ( Ikea.com)

I had forgotten this info and had been a bit concerned that it may not offer any real protection- plus I now know could wash it. Whilst it is water repellent to a degree we have found when there's a heavy down pour- you get wet!!
