Padron

Hi,

Are you required to produce a new pardon each time you buy a car in Spain?  Also, is a Padron required throughout Spain or only in certain regions as I have been advised?  Is a Padron required for the purchase of a car in Alicante for instance?

Padron no less than 3 months old for car purchase . or licence change . does not matter where you are buying from as you have to register at local town hall. Alhama opens 11am stand by door do not let anyone push in front one woman grabs many tickets to hand to friends who come later .If you go later in day bank closed so you can not pay at bank to get a copy good luck. Take deeds passport. and nie residencia if you have it

You only need a padron and can only get a padron if you are a permanent resident in Spain.  You DO NOT need a padron if you are not a resident.  Are you resident del007?

The query is on behalf of a friend who is non-resident.  He purchased a car in Mazarron and was told he had to get a Padron, which he did.  He now has the opportunity to upgrade his car, purchasing his friends car.  His friend stays in Alicante.  He has subsequently been advised that a Padron is not always required, it can depend on the area in which the transaction takes place.  All rather complicated for me.  Buy a bike!

 Depends on which side of the bed the person you ask got out of. There may be one rule on place and another  rule somewhere else Cartagena and Mazarron are in a different area to Alhama. Use a gestor and do what you have to to to achieve your objective, No point in asking us really and do not assume anything .  Try showing Traffico letters from Consulate or Police National about residencia  Its all burro cracy . Either argue and make things worse or do what you are asked to do. I stopped reading the law book after first year 

I was told by many people that I needed a padron to buy a car but whenIi went to the town hall office I was told only residents can get a padron but this was Alhama.  Everybody kept insisting I needed a padron it made my bloody head spin but it was not the case I just needed to take paperwork to the Gestoria that proved I owned a property in Spain and i just took my deeds and NIE certificate.   I went to the Gestoria with the guy I was buying the car off and it took 15 mins to sort it out and no mention of a padron!!  Don't forget to take cash with you though!!   -  to pay for the tax

Just had a similar experience which included 3 wasted journeys to 2 different town halls- 1st time , wrong town hall despite questioning it with Gestor, 2nd town hall the office was shut due to annual leave, third time it opened at 11am (Alhama) we were told 9am but got there early and were advised by various office staff we did not need Padron.This is because we are non residents. Due to this being holiday time we were without our Gestor this time but queried the info with ML and Condado solicitors and also the Murcia traffic office, they say the same. Provided you have your NIE and deeds plus passport and sellors passport and NIE and car's paperwork you can sort this at the traffic office yourself.
