My wife and I arrived at Condado late last night ready to have a drink and something to eat at any of the local restuarants.

So about 11 o'clock we went down to Al-Kasar but what a shock we had on arrival. The loud music being played at the Clover totally dominated anything any other restuarant was trying to offer. When I say loud it was vibrating at the other side of the square. Not a pleasant experience, for a moment i thought i was in Benidorm not our little Condado.

We fully want to support the local bars but surely they must suffer as people will not sit outside to eat. They may have a drink but forget enjoying a pleasant meal .

The Bulgarian was totally dominated with the noise, so we thought lets try La Cata but again the music drowned out any chance of a conversation. The staff said it was a problem for them but they could do nothing about it. It must be costing them business.

The Clover was busy i'll grant you but why so loud. before any one says I must be getting too old, you may be right but I feel that all restuarants are entitled to earn a living by offering good food and service. it should not be by ruining the others by playing music that drowns out everything else.

We in the end gave up and went back to the apartment and had a drink and a snack.

Maybe it was an exception and the music louder than normal but La Cata lost our business last night due to it.

We will try again tonight but I felt that someone should speak up for the other restuarants. Come on The Clover play fair to the others.

i have enjoyed some good nights in the Clover but it was never that loud

The problems with the loud music started with the Bulgarian during the summer...culminating in the owner of the Bulgarian throwing a drink over the electrical equipment of the band at the Clover....what a night that was!!!

About 4-6 weeks ago La Cata received a 6000 Euro fine for their loud music.

In the summer the only music I heard at mine was the music from the Bulgarian....which was pleasant 5 gardens away but I dread to think what it was like in Al Kasar.

I believed the Clover and Bulgarian had called a truce over music!!!

The problem with loud music in any of the bars/ restaurants has to be sorted as it is not good for the resort, especially for us oldies whose eardrums can't cope!!

Sorry that you found the music loud last night I must admit I was not in last night as had other commitments .

I try as a rule to maintain a decent level that does not impose on others. But on the flip side people use Condado as a holiday resort and expect entertainment if this is not provided then the rentals and also as a result the other businesses will be effected. We are ask constantly in person and electronically what entertainment is on so it is a need.

Loved the line though about playing fair with others when over the summer certain bars and restaurants stayed open playing loud music all night with total disregard for residents and other units. Pot kettle comes to mind.

I have requested on many occasions a meeting to discuss levels but most are not interested. We will continue to open all winter regardless of numbers of people and try and to provide entertainment through out inside. I hope all the others obey the contracts and remain open offering a service to the people of Condado who frequent in the off season.

Again I pled with anyone who encounters a problem with the clover to come in and speak to us you will find that we are very approachable and listen to all feedback. Posting on here on anywhere about any business causes ill feeling and distrust.

Hi Neil

appreciate the reply. i realise that it takes a lot of effort and guts to set up a business over here. I also appreciate that you stay open all year and without you most of the other restuarants may not have opened. The Clover has done an excellent job in making the Al Kasar so popular, which has encouraged other business's to open

To put the record straight if you stopped putting entertainment on i for one would be disappointed. Like i said we have had some good night in the Clover and look forward to many more.

Last night we had an excellent meal at Big G's, great value and the general atmosphere in and around Al Kasar was good.

Its not a witch hunt but in my opinion a point needed to be made and as far as i am concerned its sorted

regards

The trouble with Alcatraz is, it is an amplifier – designed for shops not bars….

You have a selection of restaurants but because they are set in a quadrant the music played will always bounce around the walls; and just as before become a war as to who wins.

The solution is to get rid of that “paddling pool” in the centre; it is nothing more than a cheaply designed waste of space and more importantly a waste of water.

Create 7 zones around within the quadrant with trees and foliage to absorb noise, 7 zones for 7 bar/restaurants – 1 for each day of the week, and each offering a different type of cuisine. Utilise the central space more effectively; a small central water feature with surrounding bars/restaurants/shops combined with seating amidst trees would create a far superior ambience. In the evenings with music at sensible levels it would be akin to a Spanish fishing village atmosphere.

I like the sound of that Eldorado, it would also create a bit more intimacy instead of the empty ness outside of the summer months.

I love the water in the centre of the quadrant.  It is so pretty in the evenings with the lights reflecting over it and has a very special, quality feel.  I don't fancy more concrete.  There is enough of that already 'locking' us inside Al Kasar.

Hi ajw,
The water does look pretty with the light reflecting on it.
Eldorado didn't mention more concrete, he suggested trees and foliage which combined with a smaller water feature would be much more attractive.

Hi

I have always loved the water feature too but the idea from from Eldorado, sounds a great idea to me too & a water feature would just add that little something extra. Pity it would be another cost though

I to like the idea of replacing the water feature with a grassed area with some trees, a little park infact.  Once done I'm sure it would look better than the empty expance of dirty water we currently have and it would provide the kids with somewhere to play.  most local villages had wooded park areas such as this and they look great.  Told thing it would cost that much and if things such as bark, succulents or even astro turf were used the on going costs would not be that much.  Perhaps we could keep a smaller water feature for the kids with the fountains that squart water.

Just my opinion,

Suddenly a complaint on this forum about noise level as escalated into a complete redesign of Alcasar, when all that is needed is, as Neil says, give feedback to the bar owners or managers at the time.

I have had many comments from visitors about how nice the current design is and I for one would not like to see more money spent on redesign. Admittedly it could be kept a bit cleaner.

They have trees etc on other 'Polaris' town centres, but I think ours is unique in design and has a certain wow factor as you enter, and would not like to see it changed.

It's certainly unique, and as we are all unique then there will always be a difference of opinion.

Jarvo – it certainly has the WOW factor……the 1st time I visited I thought “Wow this is big”, the 2nd time, I thought “WOW this is still big, it is bland, boring and with all the sun shades it’s starting to look bitty and messy”!!!!

Well done gill21, at least you read the comments thoroughly and understand the conceptual idea. Intimate supper or party bash – the two could exist without directly interfering with each other.

I agree ptan I don’t think it would be that expensive, the services are already there and would just need a little reworking; would need the install irrigation for trees plants etc. Needs a very good architect to work the idea/costings up….

It’s only what you were promised when Polaris marketed “Condado”; what have you got? – a golf course surrounded by pretty boring apartment blocks – at least you could have a more interesting environment for your evenings out……..

Elarado
As Gill said, everyone has their opinion, and I have stated mine. I respect yours, but don' t agree with it.

I find it offensive that you say I do not read it properly, this forum is about opinions, please keep it objective, not personal!

I just don' t see the link from what this thread started of talking about.

Don't shoot me down but I think of the themes behind the Trafford centre for Elarado's idea....Heladeria could have Venecian them in that sector...Best ice cream in world!! Clover will have to be the British bit, going to give La Cata the Spanish corner...Big Gs will have to have an American theme...Bokao always sounds Japanese to me ....Le Tocquet obviously French and a 7th circular sector in the middle with a water feature and seats or a bandstand ( each business could provide entertainment 1 night a week in season) that brings the other 6 sectors together...foliage to suit each region accordingly and pretty areas that provide photo opportunities.....

Jarvo – I reiterate the word read…… - look for the word “concrete” in this thread.

If you have a problem thinking people are attacking you then I suggest you get some therapy…

None of us are that important!

The link is music!!!!……and the fact that it is possible to organise an environment whereby it is possible to enjoy different types, and not end up in a situation where “the one with the biggest amp’” wins.

Thank you Redrose & Jarvo for noticing how to spell my name…………..lol
