Hope the BBQ goes well! Only wish we could be there but still only in the early stages of our purchase. We have booked our first trip in August so have something to work towards now. It's hard not to spend everyday just thinking about Terrazas :-)

Does anyone else own in Block 47?

Happy Easter everyone!

Hi,

We went to the BBQ, and believe you me, if you didnt go, you are very lucky. The food was dire , to say the least. The cold (so called) BBQED meat was slopped on to a plate in amongst a pile of awful tasting salad and, coleslaw type stuff, " NO BURNING EMBERS HERE! " . and as  if that was'nt bad enough, we had to attempt to eat this mess in an dim, dungeon like setting, with flickering lamp bulbs, in the lamp holders that he could be bothered to put any in at all!. To cap it all, they then started to announce a game of bloody bingo, through a speaker system that sounded like colin crompton had come back to life ( is he dead ? ). After forty minutes, we left, which was a feat in itself, finding the door in the dim, dank sorroundings. We left everthing on the plate, and when they cleared the table, they didnt even ask " WHY ? ", Its well known that this  is one of the main rules in catering in any country, in any eating establishment, that is if you want to see the customer again. All this for the pleasure of parting with 15 euros a head!.

I know the owner has to meet overheads , and therefore keep costs down, but here is a typical catch 22 sitution, by all means, keep overheads in check. but for gods sake keep the place inviting, and the food  tasty and good value, otherwise the punters will not return. Any proper caterer knows this, why dont these people?.

If he had bothered to ask...... I would have told him...... and saved posting on here.

OPINIONS ??

Have to disagree, it was a good effort and thanks to Clive for organising. We met some great people and had an enjoyable nights conversation. Not 5* food I agree but the food was much better than previous visits.

Keep up the good work Clive, we need this facility and to continue to support it

Hi all

It appears that Jinyx woke this morning and felt a good moan coming on, whilst I agree with some of the comments made let me get some things in context. I was the instigator of forming a small committee with the intention of injecting some community spirit into our evolving resort, therefore I take responsibility for the obvious failings of the night of the BBQ. The situation was not helped by a chef who obviously needs lessons in customer relations and a bar owner/manager who inexplicably ran out of beer and Bacardi. Please remember that Coppola's is the only facility that we presently have and we should do our best to ensure that it remains however bad people think it is.
The bingo (which I hate) was included on the night to please the Spanish who may be attending. I now have a moan - 9 people who put their names on the list did not attend and did not have the courtesy to let me know that they were not coming.
Finally, instead of criticism why not come up with some ideas for me to act on as I have no intention of giving up on efforts to try and better our resort.

Sadly we came home on 18 April so missed the BBQ - but as brand new owners on Terrazas here is my take - for what it's worth.

We liked Coppellas when we visited it on the two nights out of the three we were there, dim lighting it more flattering when you are of a certain age. I think any attempt to arrange community met ups are great, the people we have met on Terrazas so far have all been helpful and friendly and i look forward to meeting more :-)

I did attend, not least to support the initiative. It was a friendly social evening with a good atmosphere.

I cannot though disagree about the food, which was not the value to be expected for 15 euros.

I confess to being allergic to bingo and I hope personally we do not repeat that point. But thanks to Clive for the initiative and the effort in organising the evening. Lets see how such social evenings can be even better in future.

Hi clive,

I applaude your efforts in trying to orginise these events, please dont think I am having a go at you. I am having a go at the management of the venue by saying.... " get your act together !"   No matter how much effort you put into these occasions, it will never work if the venue lets you down the way it did on the  (so called ) BBQ night.it was a beautiful evening so, why oh why, couldnt he have got the barby out, and cooked the food in front of everyone thus ensuring it was hot....... SIMPLE..... oh..... at put a few light bulbs in, even if he took them out the morning after !.. At least I have taken the time to comment which means at least I care.

Think of it this way, how many people wont comment.......... but wont go back too.

The moral of the story is that last night in couplas, there were no more than six people, which says it all....... if I had a good night with the BBQ, I would have taken my family there.

Cheers

Have to disagree I turned up at the bar just after ten and there were four of us playing pool .so more than six I would of thought .
Support it or loose it .
Get off your backsides and help these volunteers instead of ripping the place apart .if you have ideas and want to help then offer it .

I think four playing pool doesnt = six, but anyway, youre missing the point,...... if the place was run right then more people would use it, and, as for volunteering,  its a business, not a charity.  As for "GETTING OFF BACKSIDES......... "MAYBE THE MANAGMENT OF COUPLAS SHOULD GET OFF HIS BACKSIDE and see how to run a place properly!.

You really missing the point!, Clive should be applauded .... , and thats excactly what I did!.

Four playing pool three sat by us and at least six at or near the bar is far more than your estimate of six.
If you don't like it don't use it .

Normal it's not I never stated it was . You need to get a perspective on the resort there are very few people out there at the moment so it is not going to be busy .
I'd rather support it with its all its faults and have a bar than nothing .what you fail to realise we waited years for it to open ,stay away if you your going to moan all the time .END OF .

Well jinky if the so called committee had communicated with the staff in Coppollas as to what food they wished to have maybe a better price could have been negotiated. Also they were told it was too early in the year for a BBQ as once the sun sets it can get quite chilly but that's what they wanted. If the food was so awful why didn't you say something on the night. As said previously by Clive the time of the BBQ was 7pm some people were still arriving at 8pm, try keep food warm for an hour without it been spoiled. On the subject of both the picture quiz and bingo apparently it was only a few people were informed of these taking place. If we are meant to be a community with everyone been involved in these events maybe Clive or Alec could brush up on there organising skills.

Good Evening.

Regarding the BBQ and derogatory comments.

Lets start at the start, we bought our apartment off plan 2006/7 just before the recession hit, we were promised a town centre with bars and restaurants which would provide a vibrant community spirit, the end result was one dark and dingy bar similar to the Irish bar at La Torre.

I suppose we were lucky in that we thought we had lost our dream apartment for our retirement but we accepted the alternative apartment that we were able to move into in 2010, during this time Coppolas was closed therefore we had nothing on the resort but this did not stop us from enjoying the time we spent at our property.

With 1 forum post it is obvious that mgriffin is a recent purchaser so is not acquainted with the recent difficulties or history of the resort.

Now to deal with the criticism, the BBQ was a last minute arrangement by myself and my neighbour Alec and we tried through various ways including posters and this forum to let residents know it was to take place.

It is very difficult to arrange such an event when we had very little cooperation from the venue where it was to take place, I fully expected the cooking to occur outside as people arrived, I was never told it was too early in the year, I was dictated too by the chef at Coppolas indeed Raphael the bar owner/manager took it upon himself to collect the monies and decide what time the NOT VALUE FOR MONEY would be served.

I have good organizational skills but was thwarted by the fact that I neither own or have any control over the running of Coppolas.

In the future I will not arrange any events that result in eating at Coppolas, perhaps mgriffin would like to join Alec and I or even take over the reins then I could make some stinging remarks and be hyper critical unjustly.

In conclusion let us end this forum and pull together to try to improve OUR resort.

Clieve, before you presume anything. I purchased my property in 2005 and am well aware of the issues we've had on the resort. I'm not going to have a tit for tat conversation on the forum. all I wanted was to set some facts straight.
