Hi Mandyandtony,

Congratulations on your purchase.

Locally broadcast TV stations are available via the TV aerial sockets in the apartments. These are mostly in Spanish though there are some English speaking programmes or English language films with Spanish subtitles on the channels.

If you are looking for international TV, it is available via A2Z Telecom. They have various internet, telephone and TV packages available.

For example, you can get:

  • international TV for 5€ per month for 3 months then 9€ per month
  • internet 4MB for 10€ per month for 3 months then 18€ per month
  • an internal phone, international TV and 4MB internet for 12€ per month for 3 months then 23€ per month

You will also have to pay installation and equipment charges, full details on their site.

TV channels can be found here

You can also use satellite TV,  but you will need to get permission to install it, buy the dish, get it all wired in and pay the satellite TV subscriptions.

We just go for the basic internet service and stream our TV via internet streaming services like Netflix or FilmOn TV and use Skype for international calls.

You could easily access Sky Go, UK TV on demand services like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Channel 4 On Demand and UK Netflix services etc using a UK hosted proxy server.

Legally, it's against the T&Cs of these services to stream them abroad but highly unlikely to be detected or acted on if only used for personal viewing. Especially if you set up your own proxy server at home using a cheap device like a raspberry pi wired to your home router. All IMHO of course.

Hi mandyandtony

we recently purchased apt 5301 and were there last week.  We went to A2Z on la torre and they were amazing at sorting out our internet and it was installed the next day.  We are on pay as you go.   I bought a chipped Amazon fire stick on e bay for £50 and it works great giving all normal, sport & movies via streaming

good luck

Hi Nicky and Steve

Thanks for your info.

With your pay and go, do you just receive the existing Spanish TV channel set up plus internet and then get the

UK BBC and ITV channels via the Fire Stick and can you say what speed internet connecton you have gone for ie, 4mb or more.

We have no experiece with the Amazon Fire Stick

Thanks mandy and tony

hi

We just got the internet package and no TV as we use the firestick for everything else as it's free

We opted for 6mb and it costs us 18 euros for 15 days. You just call them the day before you fly , pay over the phone and its working when you arrive

4MB internet is more than enough to stream TV.

The package you buy will depend on how often you are out.

  • Infrequent visitors will be better purchasing on demand but there are associated connection fees
  • Frequent visitors will save with an annual subscription.
  • In-betweeners need to weigh up the costs v hassle of reconnection. For those who have things like weather stations and security cameras then annual subscription will be the best.

We plan to stay at the apartment for periods of up to 2/3 months before and after Xmas each winter

with short visits during sumer months and I will fit a security an on line camera.

So we will go for a continous package when we arrive next month.

Thanks for all your input

I bought an escam QF502

It has PIR detector, camera with night vision and two way audio. It can also be linked to RF433MHz sensors such as smoke detector or door sensor. You can monitor your apartment via an app on your mobile phone. It is quite weird sitting in the UK and watching your apartment wishing you were there.

Great value and very easy to set up.
