car rental or one to leave in spain

we have just purchased our first apartment and wondering what is the best way for me to get best value for money out of the car game when going over maybe at most 4 times a year. RENTAL or BUY ONE IN SPAIN or DRIVE ONE OVER and come back on plane and leave it at apartment and get taxis too and from airport or go the way of the meet and greet team . what are peoples thoughts who are already going back and forth to spain. also for those on the rental path what sorts of costs are involved and who is the best to rent from.

where is your property based and where will you fly from in the UK, it makes a difference

It looks like wrightybfc is from Barnsley so i would think he would fly Leeds Bradford or Manchester or EM ?

been out twice and its been from east midlands to murcia airport. we are on corvera country club site . 

people have told me to be wary of rental firms as they take extras from accounts when they have your credit card number is this true .......i ask because one person thats told me this is a know it all thats done nothing and the others are going on hear say.

I know of a couple who bought a spanish car in the uk, did a road trip to spain in it and now leave it with a company who park it off site from Alicante at a cost of 275 euros a year. When they want their car they just call the company and it is delivered to the airport upon their arrival.
