Public transport from Alicante airport.

Hello,

as the title suggests has anyone used public transport from the airport as I understand it you have to go into Alicante to get a train to Murcia and then the Cartagena train stopping at Balsicas.

Has anyone done this and or done the same journey via bus if possible?

If you have how long in time roughly did it take and what sort of prices were the parts of the journey?

First of alll I would suggest a bus from Alicante airport to the Murcia bus station, journey time an hour and I believe that the bus runs every 2 hours and costa around €5, timetable on link below

From the bus station in Murcia you can then get a local bus, again journey time 45 minutes and far around €5, the local bus is LATBUS, the route I believe to Basilcas bus site link below, from memory I believe that it is route 70

Hi We went from Murcia to alicante on the bus last year ,can get on outside the terminal at the airport,think it runs every hour and is direct and takes about an hour you can pre book on the alsa website regards Graham 

My sister-in-law has taken the train from Balsicas to Murcia and said it was great.

As for full journey from Alicante airport, google maps does a pretty good job of best options depending on your arrival time. There are a number of routes and combinations. Probably the choice of direct bus from the airport to Murcia and then onwards by bus or train to Balsicas or Roldan are preferable if they match your arrival times.

The quickest route is bus from the airport to Murcia bus station (1hr), 26 or 28 bus transfer to Murcia train station (Almeda de colon (jardin) 4 stops 5 minutes) then a train to Balsicas (30 minutes) total around 2hrs including transfers.

Alsa bus + Lat bus 26/28 + Renfe Train to Balsicas = €5.19 + €1.85 + €3.65 (from)
Alsa bus + Lat bus 70 to Balsicas = €5.19 + €2.90
Alsa bus + Lycar bus to Roldan = €5.19 + €2.90

Taxi from Balsicas or Roldan is around 10€

When you add all that up, you are talking €30 for two people or €50 for four people. You could get a taxi door to door for 100€ which takes about an hour and a LOT less hassle. Again, my sister-in-law chose this option after investigating the above and said it was hassle free and worth the time savings.
