The prices and the safety of the complex is very appealing, luckily I run a uk home business so no issues with jobs but a state school ideally with some english kids already attending would be a priority and preferrably within a half hour drive. The apartments look "small" when thinking of living there but the outdoor areas look ok and time indoors hopefully will be minimal compared to the uk. I was thinking of buying a 3 bedroom place for the 3 of us - so is this feasible ? is this already being done by anyone else on site ? any info would be great - thank you.

Also if anyone thinks another resort/complex would be more ideal please feel free to advise.

These so called golf resorts are designed for holiday maker's  not for everyday living as you are suggesting ...although for some reason or another some people do choose to live full time in these place's ...personally I think it is the cheap asking price that turn's their head ....what you will find is that with very few people are living on these resorts ....you will be living in dare I say it... a ghost town what you will find that you will be a unpaid security guard ...living in apartment that is surrounded with empty properties with permanently pulled down window shutter's ...if you really want to live in Spain look on a urbanisation that has people living all year round ..with all the services that everyday living requires .

You also said that you work from home in the UK ...and can transfer this business over to Spain to earn a living ...what you have got to take into consideration is as self employed in Spain you will be required to pay N.I contributions of approximately €250 for each person employed ...and as a Spanish residents running a business in Spain you will have to charge VAT at 21% on every euro earned ..so if you are not charging VAT to your UK customers at the moment because you are turning over less than £86,000 per year...you will have to if you are running this business from Spain.... go and have a chat to a good Spanish accountant about cross border trading good luck .

I've only just joined the forum and seen this post, but trust your question is still relevant. I've been living and working in the Murcia region for 3 years and I'm living on Terrazas full time. I've rented on 3 different golf resorts and this one has the best security by far. Also, it's closer to a village and the beach than a lot of the resorts. In terms of practicality for 'proper' living, I find the kitchen really workable for a smaller place (and I'm a keen cook with plenty of gadgets!) it has a great layout. On the more challenging side, the community prohibits dyring your laundry on the terrace - you have to use the roof terrace which is a tad inconvenient, and if you'll be working from home, in the winter it's lovely and peaceful but when I've tried to get any work done at home in the summer, the pool noise is quite distracting.

Are you looking for a billingual school for your daughter? If so, there's one just 5 minutes drive from here, or if you're looking at La Torre as well - that's even closer, she could probably walk from there at a pinch! As far as I know La Torre has more year round residents including children, more facilities too but higher priced properties.

I would definitely agree with the other poster re: getting advice about running your UK business here, only to add - get that financial advice double checked and then triple checked! There is always a blind spot, from experience in Spain I've found that you don't find out what you need to know when you don't know that you need to know it -  if that makes sense!  Both the red tape and earning a living in Spain are super tough, I'm sure it comes up alot on this website but cliches are cliches for a reason I guess. But don't let that put you off, good luck and enjoy planning your new life in the sun :)

thank you so much for your very informative reply. I presume you personally have no children living with yourself on site ? sounds like our girl might have loads of friends 6/7 months of the year and maybe very few the remaining 4/5 winter months but certainly her lifestyle will be more healthy and pleasant. Dont presume you know if the school nearby has any percentage of english children there ?

On site is there certain areas where you can walk, ride your bike, is the pool open all year round, presume there's no covered/indoor pool ?

Many thanks

as per my reply to you on the las terrazas owners forum, the british school at La Torre is a private school, not a state school.

There is lots of space on Las Terrazas for walking and riding bikes. The pools are open all year round but a bit chilly in the winter. There is no indoor pool.
