I have a few questions re insurance

Firstly - there is a legal community that must have some form of insurance in place - the charge of which will be covered in our community fees

Does anyone know the extent of this insurance and most importantly would it include buildings cover

The reason I ask is that our mortgage comapny Halifax Hispania have confirmed to me that unless we show evidence of a buildings insurance policy prior to completion then a) it will hold up completion and b) they will purchase one on our behalf through Zurich International. I am in the throws of arranging our insurance and have details/quote that includes buildings (I do not obvioulsy want to double up on the cover required) - by the way I have been told that the cover needs to be at least the value of the mortgage - I am waiting confirmation back from the Halifax on this point.

Does anyone know of any good contacts within the Keymare legal/commercial departments

I have the same problem but when i spoke to Keymare and yje solicitors they said to be on the safe side cover buildings and contents.

Just had a quote with HIFX of £200 which was half of the cost quoted by the bank.

Cover is with Norwich Union and is for the full value of the building.

It should really be covered by our maintenance fee.

so you have a quote from hifx that just covers the rebuild of the individual unit - not the block that its in

this seems to match the advice that i am getting from other sources
