When we were out for our summer holiday at the end of June beginning of July there were a considerable number of people using the pool who clearly were not residents. Part of the problem appeared to be that some of the kids who are resident are inviting large groups of friends to use the facilities so that by mid-afternoon they have virtually taken over the pool. Additionally, on a number of occasions, I saw a family arrive and leave by car having spent the afternoon at the pool. Friends who stayed in our apartment after we returned home said that they had to ask the kids in the pool to stop making noise at 11.30pm one evening.
Although the entrance gates to the pool are fitted with locks many pool users leave the gates unlocked. In any event, even when the gates are locked, the kids - and some adults - just climb over. I don't know what the right solution is. Perhaps we need to install higher fences and gates with self shutting mechanisms. However, we cannot allow the abuse of our facilities to carry on unchecked indefinitely.

Hi
I agree with Hugo. My apartment overlooks the pool and sometimes the noise is terrible - and these are kids that are NOT from our development. Also they are sometimes in the pool at 11 and 12 o'clock at night - jumping in and out and screaming. Aside from the disturbance factor, it is only a matter of time before there's an accident with one of the kids. Can you bring this up at the AGM Justin and see what measures can be put in place to ensure the pool is used only for residents and only up unitl a certain time?

The pool area is a major headache.
We have put signs up today which state that the communal area and pool can only be used between the hours 0930 - 2130. At least we can get the police involved if people start using the area at night now.
Regarding people using the pool, we have had quotes for building up the fencing but it's very expensive and we need it approved at the next AGM. We also want to approve a "vigilante" for next summer to police the pool area. It what many urbs have.
This is a complicated issue with no easy solution but we are taking steps to try and improve it.
Justin

'we've just arrived back from NM having spent 2 glorious weeks there and asides from 1 or 2 nights we weren't disturbed by people using the pool late at night. and our apartment also looks over the pool area. We didn't notice any outsiders using the pool and if they did they were obviously very respectful of it as there was always a friendly, family atmosphere, even the teenage boys who used it all day, did not interfere with our enjoyment of it.
On one of the days there was a childrens birthday party with a huge waterslide hired for the day and even then with all those young children about, and obviously a lot of them were not from NM, we had a great afternoon and were even invited to join in.
Please dont go overkill on the security, we have it at our other property in the Pueblo Mexicano and believe me it's a pain in the you know what especially from a rental point of view.
If anything, expend your energy on sorting out the motorbikes that race up and down the street at all hours through the night and early morning!!

Andy and Tersa,
What short memories your have!
Andy you previously posted “...we have been in far better complexes with larger pools plus full sercuitey fensing and gates all around and payed less” and in Feb 2006 you complained “ I allso court locall children runing through the garage and out the front door…”
and Tersa you said in July 2006 "...........there are a couple of things that we are concerned with ............1. locking of the pool gates. 2. motorbikes after 11 pm..........ask the council for speed humps”
Were you whinging then or expressing well founded concerns?
When we were out at the beginning of July we had a great holiday. However, it was during the Spanish kids' school holidays and there were a lot of local (non resident) kids using our pool. I imagine that the pool was a lot quieter during late August and earlier September when the kids had gone back to school.

no dear, we were out during the school holidays and none of the children local or residents caused any trouble so we are able to revise our opinion.
regarding the bikes, yes, the noise is still a problem but so is the danger of someone being killed in our little utopia and as we are out every six weeks or so we would hate to be there when that happened.
