Could anyone advise us about insuring the contents of the apartment as we are not resident and the apartment will be empty on weeks that it is not being rented or occupied by us?

I would really appreciate some help here

I was not aware that you need buildings insurance only contents.  The buildings insurance is covered by the community.  The el monte insurance although expensive (300 euro) is very comprehensive and will also cover the apartment below should you have a flood, if you live above one of the shops or have more than one apartment below its worthing making sure your policy covers all their stuff.  If you need to contact the el monte bank, they have a new email address as the bank has just changed names the contact information is now: "Juan Barbero Frenkel" jbarbero@cajasol.es  hope this helps.

After recent robberies from cars under Muirfield block - it came to light that the community insurance policy does NOT cover theft from cars in the communal garage - which I personally feel is very inadequate.

I have requested, several times to see a copy of the community insurance policy - to no avail - but will push this - this week & let you know.
